We have two high school students at Cypress Christian that have attended since kindergarten. We love the culture and mission of CCS and are regularly convinced that we have our kids at the right school. I personally know and fully trust the Head of School, Administration, Staff and Board of Directors with developing my children's mind and character.
The school has a disgusting lack of diversity, which causes people of color, like me, to feel out of place. And when you're different, trust me, people will let you know. It's extremely hard to fit in, and the kids are super judgemental. Not to mention the sexism, homophobia, etc. And the school is full of privileged conservatives. If you are a person of colour, I would recommend not going here, and If you are anything besides a rich white, blonde haired, blue eyed, republican, conservative...you probably won't be welcomed here. (Ex:30/688 students are black :/ )
Integrity: If anything, the kids are exactly like public school kids except (most) are not having sex, doing drugs, drinking etc. But people do cuss all the time when there's no teachers around, if you want to shelter your kid, good luck, 'cause this at every school.
Compassion: no. just no. There was this one girl who believed in evolution, and everyone instantly started yelling at her, and now everyone makes fun of her, really sexist, racist homophobic etc.
Respect: No. the current 9th graders once peeked on the musical theatre girls while they were changing and here's an actual quote from a student everyone loves, "it's the girls fault if she gets raped."?????
The school tends to protect the school itself. I had an incident where my kid got hurt by another student and we broke his tooth, and the principal and teacher tried to cover up that it was an accident rather than negligence from the teacher looking what the kids were doing DURING CLASS. I understand human make mistakes, but integrity and honesty should be there to confront those mistakes, not lie about it. Especially when is a Christian School.
Cypress Christian School has wonderful leadership, faculty and staff. They are constanly striving to make it the best education environment possible for the students. My son is receiving an excellent education. Even though the school is fairly small, there is a wide range of sports, clubs and activities. These extracurricular activities are well organized and there is great parent involvement. I am grateful every single day that my child can attend such an amazing school.
Our experience with CCS has been excellent. Our children are challenged and they really enjoy their classmates and teachers; this is a quality learning environment with emphasis on faith and character development. The leadership is solid and principled.
