I love that I can access grades online but needs to be update more quickly than it is, not blaming the teachers because they have enough to contend with but frustrating for a parent try to discipline their child because I have to email teachers to find out if grades are correct or missing assignments are truly missing. Love Mrs. Lawrence 8th grade math, she is an outstanding teacher. Principle seems detachted from students. Just my observation.

Although all of the teachers have parents' emails, they NEVER provide updates or any correspondence whatsoever throughout the entire year regarding your child's progress. Where is the parent/teacher communication? This school needs to enforce standardized school clothing and get a handle on the kids behavior. Apparently a lot of cursing going on. Including the teachers reading it aloud from textbooks! What's up with that? The only good thing my child has had to say about this school is regarding her awesome math teacher, Ms. Graff. She should be teacher of the year. Do they even offer such a thing at this school?

This is my child's first year at HMS and he loves it. I believe his success is the best indicator of how well the school is doing. I've met with the principal on several occasions including a long term medical absence in which everything was taken care of for my child. His teachers are a group of fantastic people who have encouraged him to broaden his horizons and reach for new goals. His voice was heard when he mentioned elective courses he and his classmates wanted to be made available to them. I can't say enough nice things about his school. He is so happy. At the beginning of the year, I felt somewhat out of the communication loop, but his teachers are beginning to make better use of email and I am realizing that my child is growing up and I am not responsible for his work, he is.

I believe that Hutto Middle School has little regard for disabled students and students with health issues. The school needs better plans implemented to assist students who have to miss days due to chronic ongoing illness (such as diabetis, cardiac, asthma, etc.) The school fails to allow the students to make up work nor do the teachers return multiple phone calls and emails from the parents who want to set up conferences with them. The student with health issues is penalized. In addition, the school needs to set up an emergency plan for those students who may need emergency care in a health crisis. If a student is sent to the nurse for their diabetic or asthmatic condition, there needs to be a back up plan in place if the nurse is out so that the student can be monitored, provided with the medication, etc. This is critical!

I believe that the Principal at this school has some may be having trouble because Hutto has grown so fast. He seems to have trouble even getting to know his students. I really believe there are some outstanding teachers at Hutto Middle School.

I'm now 14 and going on to High School and I must say, I loved Middle School. Especially the 8th grade, All the teachers I had were wonderful, caring, and had neat ideas for projects. While sometimes it did seem a bit crowded, and some of the on course classes weren't the best , but theres a majority of good teachers and staff working there.

You would think that because Hutto is a smaller community that you would have better interaction with the students. Instead you have biased opinions and hardly anyone with an open mind. It is ashamed that the princaple and assistant would treat each child on an individual basis but they do not. They incorrectly (on many occasions) assume that a child has done something when in fact you know they have not yet they refuse to listen, closing their minds to the fact they may have made a mistake. We put our trust in these people and they let our kids down on a daily basis.
