Though there are some teachers there that are great, this school is not one that I would recommend. Most of the students are out of control, and the rules are beyond strict as a result. If you have any other options, I recommend you check them out.

The adminstration of this school is very unorganized. They do not return phone calls, respond to emails, nor do they notify parents of incidents that occur at the school. It is very difficult to monitor your childs progress. When there is an issue at the school it is almost as difficult to tell if the school is telling the entire story, or if they are just going by what they heard. I was very dissappointed in the administration at this school.

Although this school has a high percent of at-risk children, it performs well. Teachers are dedicated and their seems to be a very good feel to the school upon entering the halls. There is evidence of high expectatons of students. the school is very supportive of the fine arts and provides a good balance to academics and the arts. The school is very proud of the musical. art and thatrical abilities it has built over the years.

My son is new to Bowie Middle school starting in 7th grade. I am pleased with the assistance that I received from the 7th grade counselor. She has been a great help in making the change easier. I am a little disapointed in the email response times from a few of the teachers, but I realize they are very busy. All in all I am pleased with the change to Bowie and I appreciate all the staff.

My daughter is finishing up her 8th grade year and has spent her entire middle school years at Bowie. I always found the teachers and staff there professional and willing to go the extra mile to help a child who wanted to do better. When she left 5th grade a few years ago her grades were not good in fact barely passable and after her first year at Bowie she has been an A/B student ever since. She has been accepted to the Academy and we couldnt be more proud of her. While at Bowie she participated in sports, choir, music and cheerleading and we had the opportunity to interact with several coaches who all were wonderful.

I have had 3 children go thru BMS. My last leaving this year. The teachers work hard to bring out the best in the children. Most seem genuinly concerned with the kids needs. The Principle is a great guy, that trys to get to know each child and parent. My daughter has much respect and love for the majority of her teachers. They have made her feel as if they really care, and have a special place in her heart.
