My child attends this school this year as a freshman. The asst principal mcmurray needs to be replaced fast and the teachers lack leadership and direction they are very lazy NOT all but the ones that teach my son. Teachers do not follow up with parents, lose work, give very little instructions and expect the kids to know what to do. The students are somewhat rowdy and on several occasions have had religious conversations. There are muslims there and are very outspoken. This is my childs first year and I'm already thinking of moving him to another school. I gave it 2 stars because of the 2 teachers who are nice and helpful other than that horrible school. Let's not discuss the football team or lack of ugh!

This is a great school. The curriculum is awesome. The teachers love the students and the students love the teachers. Great activities, fun field trips for the kids, and a reasonable amount of challenging homework.

I go to this school, and it isn't anything special by ANY means. The principles are very dedicated as well as the teachers, but there is definitely a quantity over quality issue when it comes to their staff. Their only good sports teams are basketball, and volleyball. Half the teachers at Ranchview make you slam your head on the desk in frustration of poor explanation, and boring BORING assignments.

This school is severly lacking in leadership. The saying that "the inmates run the asylum" is very appropriate at this school. The current prinicipal (Hicks) will tell you what he thinks you want to hear but will not follow up on anything discussed. The learning enviroment that is set forth is not conducive for learning and furthermore the leadership does not care.

I am in my senior year in RHS and based on my experiences, this school isn't the best. Most of the staff would spend more time socializing with students or getting the class settled down for a while. They intentionally drag on the discussions too long. The school lacks school spirit compared to other schools in the district. RHS counselors are helpful most of the time, but sometimes they can get a bit pushy when discussing schedules and classes. In this school year, there's quite a handful of new teachers, some coming from nearby schools. It would seem that some teachers aren't really motivated to teach. They would find a hand out and have students complete it. A number of the teachers there are also coaches, they re more lax to their students compared to full time classroom teachers. The academic programs are excellent, gaining recognition from area and regional levels. Ranchview is a 3A school, which is a small school compared to the other 5A schools in the area. The fine arts department is well known to the other schools. Rules are enforced, but most of the time the staff are very lax about them. The facilities are OK, since the facility was opened in 2002.

There are those who say that Ranchview is a 'great, blossoming school' however, they overlook the fact that the students at Ranchview could care less about their education. From first hand experience, being a student here is more about how popular and good you look than how you are excelling in school. The programs are lacking a strong moral background- just like the students- and its not a safe environment to be in.

I am a freshmen at rhs! and what can I tell you... it rocks! IB is a very good educational program, its very tough and they give you a lot of homework! But i think its worth it, because it prepares you for college. The school is also very culturally diverse! You will probably never find a more culturally diverse school ever! The bad thing could be that the seniors and juniors are bad influence but overall they had great extra curricular activitites such as volleyball, tennis, basketball, softball, baseball, golf, swimming, theatre, art, computers, orch, band, choir, dance, speech, health, french, spanish, and many others! You have to join IB because its a great experience, so come to Ranchview!

***I wish I could say that my experience with this school has been as great as the other reviews I've just read but so far, I'm not sold on having my child finish out her high school career here. I have come across some teachers that don't seem to be ecstatic about teaching or communicating, the athletics instuctors that I've had conact with are even less communicative and there was a school safety issue that wasn't handled with the highest integrity. My hopes are that by the end of the school year my opinion will have changed drastically. I would love to come back & write a review completely opposite of what I am writing now.

My daughter is beginning her 3rd year and will graduate this year. This is an up and coming school with strong, competent leadership and high quality teachers. Unfortunately, the nature of the Valley Ranch area and deficiencies in affordable housing can sometimes create a transient student community. It can be hard to put down roots here and stay; there are also students who are rather well off or even privileged attending this school. I frequently find faculty and parent group expectations that are beyond my financial means as a single parent. We are continually met with expectations that my evenings are free and available for school participation; no, I am at work-2 jobs. My daughter has to work, too, but there is little understanding for our reality. Love the school, but hate what I have to do to keep her there.
