My son has been in the Lake Dallas school district since kindergarten and is now in 7th grade. Overall I am pleased with the quality of the teachers and their commitment to the kids and the quality of the education. I keep a close eye on academics compared to other wealthier suburbs like Frisco and Plano, and so far, my son has ranked in the top 5% of all students in the country for reading, writing, math and science. The Excel program and Mr. Cole in particular have been outstanding; however, I and several other parents I know are extremely disappointed that the district has opted to phase out Excel for 8th grade and only offer AP classes instead.
I love the LDISD district. The small town has grown but still has the small town feel to it. My daughter has done well here. Wish budgets could be larger, but that's the breaks the government gives. The teachers are great. I'll be staying until she graduates Lake Dallas High School.
This is a wonderful school, my daughter's self asteem and grades have gone up since she started this school. The teachers communicate well with the parents, and with family access online we can keep an eye on our daughters progress and grades. This is a wonderful town and a great school!
I do not like this school. First off it has Dress Code, why try to cover up you're a public school? I should have taken that offer from that private school in Highland Village, atleast they care. Second, they don't give a rats bootie about us, the students. Some teachers just look at they work to see that you did it and give you a 100. Wow, thanks for not even looking at my golden paper that I worked all night on. I'm serious this school has gone down Mt. Everest and kept going.
Lake Dallas MS has transformed in the last 3 years to be an outstanding place to send you children. This sleepy little town woke up, set standards high and kids first. The were a recognized MS in 2008 and that isnt a small accomplishment anymore if you look at Texas Middle Schools. We had a new superintendent take office recently and havent looked back! What a difference, what a change, what a great place to send our kids!
Lake Dallas Middle School is a wonderful place. The administration and teachers have worked extremely hard this year as a new and improved campus. Everything they do is for the students.
My daughter is in 7th grade at LDMS. This is our third year in Lake Dallas ISD. So far, we are not impressed with the Middle School at all. When we came to Lake Dallas, the Middle School was the only school in the system that was not exemplary and we now understand why. I haven't gotten to know all of the teachers but we have had more problems with this school in the first six weeks than we had in the two years that my daughter attended Intermediate. To me the principal seems to pass the problems off or just give lip service. Not at all impressed!!!!!
As a graudate, of Lake Dallas, I am sorry to say the educational process has gone down hill over the last ten years. I have four daughters. All have attended Lake Dallas from 1st to graduation. Currently I have a daughter, who is a special education student. Special Education is greatly lacking at Lake Dallas. I have seen increased success for my daughter with private tutoring through an outside source. However, until private tutoring my daughter while in sixth grade was only reading at a 1st grade level. After four months of private tutoring she was reading at a fifth graade level. Lake Dallas offers a wide variety of extra curricular activites, but for academics the school is not meeting the expectations of most parents. This I find especially true in the Special Education Department. Although, some improvments have been made in recent years.
