Develops empathy: Disagree
July 30, 2015
No, after sitting down in a conference due to failing grades the principal point blank said it was not the "substitutes fault" it was the student who had to adapt. Before this the progress report of the student had only one C and in one month the grades dropped. Many students went through this.

Develops honesty: Strongly disagree

It's not fair that students are being robbed from their education. They will struggle in the long run. Teachers are not certified. However, if there was good leadership the teachers would get the help, feedback and trainings they deserve.

Child attended this school. The families are loving, honest and humble. Great children and students attend church every week. However, as mentioned by a student the academics are not there. Students are not being prepared for college. Teachers do not have the skills and the principal is weak and does not know how to lead their teachers. Teachers need supervision and more training. When parents raise their concerns they will ask you not to enroll your student again. Superintendent will not return your calls or emails. Students will make life long friends but will not learn. No tutors for struggling students, no structure, no consistency and lack of morals and principles. Ironic coming from a religious school. Parents are taken advantage of for having to pay for a quality education and do not receive that. Some refuse to raise their concerns due to teachers retaliating against their children. A teacher is known for texting during class time. As a strong faithful person I embrace the bad and learn from it. My child will do better in a different school. This note is to inform others of the experience we had.

Teacher effectiveness: Very ineffective
July 30, 2015
Teachers lack the skills, supervision and trainings. Students who are not grasping the material are not cared for. No additional help or practice, nor do they have recommendations for the parents. All they say the "student is doing ok and not to worry". Receiving failing grades is not OK. Students need help! And it is not being addressed by the teachers and principal. During finals, after falling behind students are given long, multi-page math reviews, covering all material of the year. Students were giving the booklet a few days before final exam, but luckily they were given the answers to them. Teacher did not "review" with students to ensure they knew the material. Coming from a parent with a struggling student in Math. I don't think that giving the answers to a Math review is teaching, nor learning. This is coming from their 4th grade teacher. There was no reinforcement nor real review of the material. All students, struggling and non struggling students were expected to know the material. Wow!

Amount of homework: Not enough

No, even after parents request the additional help. The teachers are not willing to work with parents, and they lack the confidence/knowledge to teach. The teachers won't use their programs, such as IXL and AR with the students as they should. Every grade level teacher is different and the principal is not overseeing and ensuring students are reading at school and taking quizzes and getting the help they deserve. In the long run teachers will have their job but students will lack in knowledge and skills. It's the students who will suffer in the long run as mentioned in a prior review by a student.

I am former student from St.Peters. And even though I graduated w/ outstanding grades I deeply regret to say that St.Peters lacks the qualifications it needs in educating there students.St.Peters needs to have certified teachers, with at least some kind of degree in education. Going into jr.high school I found it to be challenging, because I felt lost. I mostly felt that I learned the same thing over and over again. My grades were excellent yet, my acedimic skills were'nt that impressive. So I ponder,is it me or is it the way I was taught. Still, I enjoyed my years in St. Peters but, I only wish that I was better prepared to excel in high school. :) Ps: Mrs Ayala is a great principle & disciplinarian who in force rules and, thats what principles should do.

Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school's profile?

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
