As a former educator at PHS, I can safely say I was mortified when I saw how ill prepared and untrained the students were. I doubt many of them will go to college and if they do they will have a very difficult road ahead of them. If I had children I would send them anywhere else, but most likely I would home school them. There are limited opportunities for them to explore. The facilities are okay, but centered around developing an athletic program rather than expanding academics (and it shows). The parents are involved, but no one has explained to them that it really doesn't matter if 'Johnny' plays ball if he can't read. Most of my students were only concerned with passing (with a 70) when it would've required very little additional effort to get the 'A'. The administration perpetuates these problems by a lack of strong leadership.

I have seen several children that have come out of this school ill prepared for college. I attended the schools in this district for seven years. Now that I am in a new district, I can better see the lack of quality education. Pearsall ISD settles for a less than par standard.
