I have two children at Murchison Elementary and the "newbie" teacher is great; the "veteran" teacher, not so great, but still okay. I wouldn't attribute that to the school itself though. The descriptions from previous posters of the office staff is completely accurate. I think the administrators should spend some time reminding them of how important they are and how they actually set the tone of the school for parents and staff. They really do make visiting there very unpleasant. I'm not sure of how things went historically, but I will say that there are PLENTY opportunities for parental involvement, including, but not limited to conferences, science fairs, open house, etc. I'm hoping Murchison reaches Exemplary status soon!
This is a great school! My child's teacher is fantastic. The principals care about the kids and are easy to approach. The school has gotten a lot better in the last two years.
Murchison is great! I agree with other parents that the front office ladies show no emotion or enthusiasm however, as long as they do their jobs for which they are being compensated, in a timely manner and in a professional fashion, they will not suffer my wrath. Parent involvement is good. There are many little cliques but, who cares? As long as it doesn't interfere with my child's education, they will not hear from me.
I dont like School, i feel is darty, people work there is rude, i dont have anything good to say, i hope i can change my girls.
This is the most highly unorganized school that I have ever seen. Dont get me wrong, I am ecstatic that my daughter is able to attend an exemplary rated school, but give me a break. My daughter's teacher never planned a parent/teacher conference on Columbus Day, there was never an open house and I feel like there is NO communication whatsoever sent from the school to the parents. I feel like when I call the front office and ask quesitons, they just tell me what I want to hear and there isnt any truth behind it. Someone please tell me if I am just crazy!
We have been very happy at Murchison, this is our 3rd year and the staff & teachers have been amazing. I do agree with another parent on this, the front desk ladies do need some love! They are rude and it seems they are very unhappy with the jobs they have!
As the school year comes to a close, I have to say my first year at Murchison has been wonderful. The teachers are fantastic and enthusiastic about teaching. The principal is outgoing, excited to be there, and has done so much for the school his first year. I look forward to many more great years at this school.
Teachers are very harsh to students, seems that kids have to stop being kids at times, they don't have time or space to let off energy, they are kids after all, aren't they?. Front office staff not very friendly and very unattentive. I have sense some descrimination from some school staff. Principal not very approchable and likes to avoid parents.
I am extremely happy with my child's school. His teacher is great. I really like the new principal and what he is doing with the school.
So excited about the new principal at this school this year and that Murchison is on it's way to being an exemplary school! Love the idea that they are having a teacher from each grade stay in the lunch room, so it has become a more controlled environment yet still enjoyable for kids to visit. I wish also that the office ladies were more friendly and not have to 'fake' it so much. Also like the steps they are taking to ensure the safety of the kids with food allergies. Thumbs up!
