Plano East is a Great senior high school. The campus has a layout as a college campus has, preparing you for when you graduate and go to college. Excellent Teachers and Programs for all students, Has a good mix of races which is a good environment for students to be in. Also has an IB Program which not all schools have, I highly recommend this school.
I AM A STUDENT GRAD CLASS OF "10" if it wasent for the teachers that Ihad Iwould have given up on ever trying my best in hs. Everybody talks down on plano east hs, but for me Ifelt like Ididnt have to be something Iwasent. I felt like I belong somewere for the first time in a plano school. So the people that talk down on plano east hs maybe you are looking for the wrong things in a hs. Maybe you should be looking at the hearts of the kids instead of the major apperence
I had really high hopes for this school for my child, but it really didn't meet his needs. The teachers, on the whole, are substandard compared to others with whom I have worked (Garland ISD). As one parent wrote, there are teachers here who feel they are beyond reproach and outright defame their students. Tutorial help is a joke - it's like a classroom of students who don't understand a thing. I moved my child out.
I am a former student (class of '08) I moved to Plano my sophomore year and my peers were rather welcoming, diverse, and accepting. They treated the students as very capable adults. Formerly a Mesquite ISD student, I wore standardized dress, didn't have off campus lunch and had less than 30 minutes for lunch. The education is also superior to that of Mesquite's--no doubt. I'm glad I moved here, I just wish I would have done so sooner.
I am a student that graduated in 07'. I am very truthful of wether something is worth it or not. Plano East is definitely worth it. I was not one of the very brightest like many of my friends, but regardless I always had the assistance needed. This school is different since its diverse I strongly feel this brings encouragement among many to become successful with great help of the teachers that listen to the student and help them. A special thanks to a teacher that motivated me and assisted me in obtaining a scholarship that pays for my education today.
It has a diverse program from Baccalaureate to basic classes for all race, color and greeds!
If this is the best the Plano school system has to offer, then we're in trouble. This school has a history of bad principals and teachers who think they're beyond reproach. Cheerleaders, star atheletes and 'popular kids' in general aren't held to the same rules as the rest of the population. It's a recipe for rot.
Strong academic expectations combined with award winning extra curricular activites
I was class of 08' at PESH and i belive that school is one of the best, the teachers are great and help you in any way they can so you will graduate.
I'm in the IB program at PESH, which is pretty good. All my IB teachers and my AP teachers except for one are all beyond stellar, willing to listen, and teach because they want to teach and not because they failed at becoming something that pays better. They make me actually want to learn and study, something I honestly never really did in junior high. The AJROTC here is also pretty good, especially its orienteering team. One thing that I don't like about here is the offices - they take forever to respond, keep directing you to other subareas, and don't seem to prioritize very well.
i go to this school and it's great. the teachers have no problem asking them a million questions. the school is absolutly gorgous. the white buildings and pond. you'll feel like a collage student. they have portables in the back because of maybe over population. it's big. you'll love it. i think PISD is where everyone wants to be
PESH is a great school. This is my son's first year there. He's learning a lot and all of his teachers seem sincerely interested in helping the students succeed. So far so good.
From the dedicated principal to the enthusiastic teachers - PESH is an awesome school
We moved to Plano because of the information about the School System. Our son started and finished in PISD. There are many opportunities for the children to enhance their lives. The academics, sports and many extracurricular activities gives our children a much better chance for success. Our son played several sports and still maintained advanced placement classes along with opportunities to volunteer within his community. He graduated in 2004 with 12 college credits. He was also able to test out of 9 credits at LSU so he entered college with 21 credits hours. The teachers and staff at East encourage and prepare our children for college which, in turn, gives them a much better chance for scholarships. Parent volunteers are invaluable to the district and it's success. After College visits it became very apparent Colleges are aware of Plano Academics. I highly recommend PISD to all.
Great school - three of my three children have graduated from PESH over the past 5 years.
Both my children graduated from Plano East (1999 and 2002). Plano East provided them a very strong base for academic success in college (both graduated from a major university in 4 years, one of them graduated from college Cum Laude and the other was just short of Cum Laude). Both of them entered college with 12-15 hours completed through advanced placement classes at Plano East and both commented that the excellent academic and classroom experience at Plano East had prepared them very well for the challenges of college. They also found a wealth of extracurricular Fine Arts opportunities at Plano East that enhanced their high school experience.
I went to PESH and it was an awesome school. Extracurriculars were so good they don't even compare to most other states high schools or colleges.
I had one child who attended PESH and was extremely pleased with the quality of the academic programs at the school. I had heard that PESH was the red-haired step child of the plano schools but found the contrary. PESH has a wide range of programs - music, sports, etc. and my daughter found the academics to be challenging. Parent involvement didn't strike me to be overwhelming. It was as I expected
