Presidio has the dubious distinction of being one of the most isolated cities in America, while at the same time lying directly across the border from Ojinaga, Mexico, a city four times Presidio's size. Spanish is mainly spoken around town (at businesses and at home), so student command of English at school is uneven. In spite of these obstacles, Presidio High School was a Recognized Campus (a rating assigned by the Texas Education Agency) in 2009-2010. Students at Presidio High School attend an excellent campus building, where the student-teacher ratio is about 15:1. All students are issued a laptop computer for each school year, and many college classes are offered online. Campus discipline is excellent and numerous 12th graders receive generous scholarships each year at graduation.
