Positives: even ratio, small town security Negatives: ciriculum is seriously lacking, no initiatives from the authority figures, who you are will get you farther, you either pass with ALL the scholorships, pass being unprepared and unseen without little effort to pass, or pass because they stick you in special-ed instead of work more with you. Rarely does one not graduate. I dont consider that a good thing. MOST dont go on to college or they do and wind up flunking/dropping out and coming back home to settle for what is available here. Football is IT. If your female and love sports and would like to progress in that area for college, well you better move or train yourself. In my time there, there were teachers who practiced favoritism to an extreme. Now, I believe it's the state sytem. Teachers are pressured with having the kids 'memorize' education to pass, not learn.
LOL Everyone in lower blogs is totally correct about Quanah High...Its nice if your popular and if your not well your just nothing. After my kids have went to this school and moved up north, big difference, my kids are having to play catch up because the education is not up to standards. There is not much of sports except football. Im sure you get the point now..If I have to move back I wouldnt. The kids who get away with hurting other students get away with it, the teachers or principal doesnt do anything about it.
I attended QHS for 2 years (Freshman and Sophomore). I was a Varsity cheerleader, and played on both Varsity softball and basketball. As a student, I would say that the teachers and students both are exceptionally nice. However, the actual teaching wasn't up to par! I was second in my class (Class of 2008), and I didn't have to put forth any effort to be in that position! After moving to a different school I realize that I definitely didn't learn what I needed to. At my new school I even had to retake classes that were taught to me at QHS because I wasn't prepared enough! If you're looking for nice people, definitely a good place. If you're looking for a good education, I wouldn't suggest it!
QISD is an excellent school. It has a great student to teacher ratio. The teachers are excellent and genuinely care about the students. I would choose no where else for my children to attend.
QISD is the bomb ! I was only a fish there for 6-weeks and if i had the chance i would go back in a heart beat ! the teachers are extremly nice ! QISD has bullies just like any other school and they get punished just like any bullie would . they are serious about education for all thier students [no exeptions].
I went to this school and I have nothing to show for it except a diploma. I would home school my child before I sent him or her to QISD. Education is not the focus of this school, and social ranking is of the highest concern. If a person is middle or low income your are put on the back burner. Quanah is a town that believes the poor stay poor so why educate them.
If you are planning to place your child in Quanah ISD don't! This school system has a lot of bullies and they wont put a stop to it or if they are confronted about it, they just push it under the carpet! This school is based on who you are and who you know! Popular kids get away with everything and the nonpopular get in trouble. At the end of this school year, there is 7 families moving. Can anyone see that ther is problems in QISD! HELP!
