Rowlett HS implements a trimester schedule instead of semester schedule which I like. RHS also uses exam exemptions based on grades as well as absences which helps to keep the kids motivated to attend classes. There is frequent communication from Faculty and Staff at the school.
They really seem to have it together, there efforts are always from the heart and I have to say Carol Little is outstanding and the Principle stays on top of everything which truly makes things run so smoothly they really do care about there students and there school!
I have two children who have graduated from RHS. They both had a great high school experience. Rowlett has a fabulous band program.
Rowlett High School is a great school for any parent looking to put there child in that is well-controlled, clean and has a great education opportunity as well as a great group of well disciplined kids. We enjoy the sports activities as all of the town ralleys behind the kids!
Rowlett High is a great public school. Yes, sports are focused on a lot, but the choir & band are never left out & are always recognized. The principal is strict, but for all the right reasons. The school IS crowded but with free choice on school there's not much anyone can do about it. The dress code isn't as strict as it sounds. I got through Rowlett High with no problems at all.
I enjoy the enviroment around the school both my kids, 9th,&10th are learning well, and getting all of the extra help from their teachers to me that is great, Being hispanic in my high school Health proffessions Magnet, was great but difficult, I see that my children do not get discriminated at all, in about 3 years I will have my last one there I am sure it will have the same or better reviews about this school. Thank you! for being there for us....
This is a great school to attend. My sister went for her 4 years, and now I'm in 9th grade, and already, I'm havin' a great time. There are some conflicts with club activity schedules, but who really has time to join everything? The school lets students pick from several different elective and extras, giving them a high school experience they'll never forget. As for academics, Rowlett has a decent program (nothing extremely special), but the teachers are easy to work with, because they really do care for the students, and they realize that some people need time to work things out in terms of time restraints, especially with extracurricular schedules.
It is a large school, very competitive in sports, however the band is not forgetton. While some may say the Prinicpal is strict, I think she just wants the best for the students while at RHS and also wants to prepare them for when they graduate. The principal and assistants are very supportive of the students. One of our sons had problems at begining of a semester with a class, teacher worked with him first, then when little improvement was made advised us. We all worked together to improve his grades. With the great band director and assistants and the very supportive band booster organization, the students are motivated to do their best. We had one son graduate an another presently attending and both love the school.
This school is very competitive when it comes to sports and extracurricular activities. However, the academics offered here are average. Some of the teachers will work with students, some are very hard for the students to talk to. The Principle is very much in charge, I am very impressed with her. I think it will be a much better school if the academics were just as competitive as the extracurriculars and sports.
Great school! Principal is great, but is strict. Tearches will work with you for extra help. Many activities. Over all a great school.
