Awesome school. Fabulous teachers. Great principal. Though we are sorry to see him leaving. Great news is he is heading to help the Junior School. The atmosphere at Woodridge is definitely student centered. My child has been challenged and loves going to school every day. We love Woodridge.

When we moved from Dallas to San Antonio, we specifically chose a neighborhood that would attend Woodridge Elementary in Alamo Heights ISD. Both of our children have enjoyed their school - they love the teachers, the projects, the extracurricular clubs and activities and even the cafeteria food! We are so thankful for all this school has too offer. Our children are developing a lifelong love for learning.

The Woodridge Elementary experience has been amazing. The teachers are first class and the leadership is exceptional. Our child is in the Spanish Immersion and Heights (gifted/talented) and both programs have exceeded our expectations. In addition, special activities such as Science Night ,the Halloween carnival, the Technology Expo, and the Cowboy Breakfast create numerous opportunities for learning and fun.

I can't agree with your opinion, the life class teacher Mrs. Burton is wonderful, the teachers teach and treat each and every child equal, they don't make the special needs children feel left out or put aside. the principal is a great one.

Woodridge really isn't a good option if your child has special needs. We had to move my son to private school. Found both teachers and administrators put very little effort into trying to include special needs kids in the rest of the school. Services for children with disabilities is non-existant.

Woodridge is fantastic. The teachers,staff,and facility are top notch. Great community involvment... Our second child is currently attending ,we are very pleased.

The academics at Woodridge are outstanding. The teachers are extremely well prepared and really meet the children at their level. My son has been there for two years and has thrived in all areas. He also recieves special services for speech. The speech teachers are wonderful. I cannot say enough good things about this school!

I've really been impressed with Woodridge. The school has over 800 students, yet is very intimate and has a great neighborhood feel. I love seeing children riding their bikes and walking to school. The teachers are first rate. I've had my children at the school for 5 years and every year my children have loved their teachers and most importantly, going to school. The academic rigor is great, they really work on focusing exactly on what the child needs. Finally, the parent involvement is outstanding. Parents are always on campus and helping in the classrooms. It is a great learning environment for everyone.

Woodridge provides Strings beginning in fourth grade, and this program is fantastic. If you are new to the district be sure and ask before the beginning of the school year so your upcoming fourth grade student is able to start this program. The special classes, in general, are outstanding. The gifted program, Heights, is also a strong and meaningful addition to the curriculum. While the general curriculum is strong, the addition of these programs adds greatly to the enriching quality of the school day.

There is an extremely active PTO. Parents are encouraged to participate in all aspects of their child's education. There is a very large strings program, but it is only available to 4th and 5th graders. There is also a choir. There are a number of clubs and other extracurricular activities, but you need to pay close attention to the information that comes home during the first week of school. This is when most of the information about these activities comes home for the parents to review. The only thing about the PTO that can be a bit overwhelming, is the number of fund raisers. There is an 'opt out' option where they ask for a donation of $100 (steep for some of us!) and then you can not participate in the fund raiser. Unfortunately they still send all the info about each fund raiser home. All in all, a good school!

Teachers are actively interested in individual skills and talents of children. School has a great music program. Parents have been involved in all 5 years of my children's enrollment in the school, at each grade level.

The only downfall I find with Woodridge is the 'clickiness' of the teachers. If your child has a bad year or is labled 'hard to deal with' then the chances of you finding a teacher with an open mind are pretty slim. Not much compassion from the staff as a whole. There are a few exceptions, but not many. The school is very safe and 'innocent', your child will not be subjected to drugs or bad influences.
