I am currently a freshmen at Mac and I personally would much rather go to Churchill. First of all, there is a lot of drugs, such as cannibis and pills. The student are ok, you just have to find who you belong with. There is some bullying going On. Administration seems to not like to help. And the cops there have a bad way of "prioritizing" . The fine arts teacher is not very nice with to me. I have no idea because I am crazy about fine arts. If your thinking about going to this school I would much rather do school of choice to a different school.

MAC has given my son a great foundation for his future. Their ROTC program is first-rate, and his academics have never been better.

I moved to San Antonio from the East Coast. My child is a senior. I want to give kudos to her guidance counselor, Mrs. Midgett. She is the best of the best. She has made a very smooth transition for my child. We had difficulty getting transcripts and she stayed on top of the previous school in obtaining them. She does what you call 'advising.' I have never seen a guidance counselor perform her job to the best of her abilities like Mrs. Midgett. I was extremely nervous about my child moving here in her junior year. Mrs. Midgett you are the best. Thank you so much for allowing my child to have two successful final years at MAC.

All other NE high schools have a much stronger magnet program than does Mac. Parent participation along with administrative support is dismal and will hopefully improve. That being said, Mac is out-standing in all other areas.

Wow, I'm completely surprised by everyone's review. I graduate in 05' and just completed my Junior year of college. Overall I would say that Mac was decent at best. My biggest concern with Mac would be the communication between the administration and the students and the quality of education. Yes, the campus is nice but let's be honest. I took every AP course there and when I came to college I felt like I knew absolutely nothing and was highly under prepared. And dont' worry I had a 3.77 gps so I was no slacker. If you want your kid to have 'fun', in which ever way to choose to define that then Mac is the way to go. If you're looking for quality and a place for your child to grow academically and personally then go somewhere else.

I can't think of a better school that my childeren could have attended. I have one there and my middle son graduated in 2006. One of the reasons we moved to the mac area is so my kids could attend. The staff and teachers are so helpful and supportive. The administrators and principal are very involved and 'on-the-ball' Couldn't ask for more. GO BRAHMAS!

This is the best school in the city...hands down. The staff, teachers, students, and parents are all involved in everything. The teachers look like they love their jobs, as do the administrators and counselors. Teachers are willing to tutor when ever they can, before or after school. The librarian and library staff are all very helpful and friendly. It is also a very beautiful campus. The campus is well-kept and clean. The front office is organized and everyone is really helpful and supportive. There is nothing negative to say about this campus...it's beautiful, the staff is great, and the students are great...what else could you ask for in a public school?

Mac is a great school. The administrators and teachers are very supportive of all the students. The atmosphere is friendly and although there are the normal 'clicks', clicks intermingle and everyone gets along great. My son graduated from Mac and loved it and now my daughter is a freshman there and can't wait to go to school each day. Go Brahmas!

Everyone is involved at this school. There are so many extracurricular activites, organizations, and clubs that it is easy to fit in and do well. There is something for everyone and teachers, students, and administration are all very, very willing to help if you take initiative. This school stresses extracurricular activities and if you want to do well in and out of the classroom, i HIGHLY recommend Macarthur. You won't get a better experience. We train amazing athletes and even better students.

In general, MacArthur is a good high school. It offers a wide range of classes as well as activities. My daughter was involved in choir and it was easy to notice the talent of the kids. Parent involvement seem average. It would depend of the parents williness to get involve with their kids activities. Overall, MacArthur is a good school although it is not considered one of the top high schools in the city.

I have two graduates of MacArthur High School. One in 2001 and one in 2005. I am also a graduate of MacArthur ( class of 1982). In my opinion, this is one of the best schools in the city. They have tons of children involved in fine arts and sports as well as other activities. And the parents are very supportive. The teachers and staff are friendly and helpful. I have never had a concern go unaddressed. I love this school. And more importantly , my children love this school.

Overall we were very pleased with the education our child received at MacArthur. Problems: 1. counselors are not at all involved with students. 2. Dance teacher is uncommunicative and unfair.

My daughter has attended this school for the last two years and will be a Junior this year. I feel that the school does a great job with my daughter. I find the teaching staff very willing to work before and after school, as needed, to help my daughter out whenever she encounters any difficulty with subject matter. The quality of home work also gives me the indication that this school takes student education very seriously. I have observed the principle very well involved with all student activities and does a great job providing the staff and students the leadership they need. My son will be attending this school within the next couple of years.

MacArthur is a great school. I was in 3 sports and the teachers understand that and are flexible and are willing to tutor in the mornings or after school. The teachers are all great and there are many advanced classes available so the students can move up. The students and staff and faculty make MacArthur a great school not to mention the whole school is totally rebuilt and everything is less than 3 years old and some parts are newer. But I would reccomend it is a perfect school for anyone!
