Stone Oak Elementary School

I LOVE this school. We relocated from California. Our daughter hated school in California. We were so lucky to get Connie Shepherd, who is just the best kindergarten teacher! She has brought out a love of learning in our daughter that I didn't think was possible. When we registered (in the middle of the year) we were introduced to the Principal, Ms. Ray, and given a tour of the school. I cannot say enough positive things about Stone Oak. The education is top notch and the staff from the crossing guard to the principal are just a real pleasure.

We love this school. We moved here from England three months ago. We were understandably nervous about how our two children ( grade 1 and 3) would adjust. They love the school and the teachers and have settled in brilliantly. We are extremely happy with the education our grade 3 daughter is receiving - she has continued to make good progress at this school and loves her lessons. Our son loves his lessons and his teacher ( as do we - she is lovely) - however, the math work is so easy it is ridiculous. My son is bright and he is not being catered for yet academically. We wanted to let him settle in first before we tackled the school about it. I also found it very wierd that we have never met or been introduced to the principal of the school. I was a teacher in England and I know there is absolutely no way a new family would join a school without meeting and being welcomed by the principal of the school - maybe it is just different over here. The principal however does seem very nice at the parent meetings we have attended and I feel that the school is very well run. I would definitely recommend this school our experience has been very positive so far.

I LOVED this school with my oldest child, and then my youngest went to Kindergarten there and had Ms. Boyett. She is a horrible teacher and made it clear to me she had no patience for my child who has ADHD. His pre-k teacher was very kind and patient with him but not Ms. Boyett. She was horrible to communicate with, openly displayed her frustration towards a child, and just needs to retire. This has been the worst year ever because of her and my son has learned nothing because she was not willing to reach out and try new ways of teaching aimed at a kid with ADHD. They have a very different way of learning and are visual learners. I have been trying to teach him what she can't. We are moving just to get away from her!!!! If your kids are in Ms Boyett's class beware!

Hurray for Mrs. Shepherd!!! She is the best teacher any of my kids had ever had. She was warm, loving, patient and caring. Mrs. Shepherd taught my son (Kofi) how to develop passion for his reading and encouraged him positively in every aspect. We are indeed going to miss her a lot but we will send lots of pictures and cards to remind her about what a great contribution she made in my son's life. Kofi knows he is smart because Mrs. Shepherd told him every single time. Our one year at Stone Oak was very worth it. We are relocating to NC and we hope to find a school as warm as Stone Oak Elementary. Such an excellent school Stone Oak is. Congrats Mrs. Ray!!!

Everyone I talk to knows how much I love this school. We even moved back to Texas primarily because we missed Stone Oak so much! The amazing staff from Mrs. Ray (Principal) to the custodians are so warm and friendly. It was a blessing to leave a school that didn't even want parents in the building to return to a school where the staff know not only your child's name but know YOUR name-- and they welcome your help in making the school the best place ever for the kids. Academics are excellent especially compared to the highly touted disctrict in NC we moved to briefly a few years back. Now that I have both kids in school I get to spend alot of time up there volunteering. This has allowed me to see the teachers and staff interact with the kids and I am extremely pleased. Even though it's the oldest school in the neighborhood everything is bright and clean. I knew when Glenda hugged me hello upon our return that we made the best choice for our kids by bringing them back to Stone Oak Elementary! I'm just sad I'm out of kids to have Mrs. Asher for Kindergarten :-)

My kids have gone to Stone Oak Elementary for almost 4 years and we all love it! Kristen Ray is the best principal ever. She genuinely cares about each and every student AND their parents. The teachers are amazing as well. I can't say enough good things about this school . I feel very blessed.

This is a wonderful school. The principal is so involved with all the students and the teachers are awesome! My son (kindergarden) knew how to spell all his colors in the first month of school and has learned so much. The teachers really pay attention to the ways the kids learn best and use those as much as they can. My daughter is in 3rd grade and she is loving her teacher as well. The students are, for the most part, very well behaved and this school really has such a wonderful staff!

We came from St Paul Catholic School and did not know what to expect from a public school . Stone Oak Elementary is 1st class in Leadership, Faculty, Staff! We feel like we never changed schools, by this I mean Everyone really cares for each other in a genuine manner... and the Kins program to all extracurricular activities are fine tuned. My children LOVE their TEACHERS and Cafeteria Food!

My children have been at Stone Oak for the past 3 years and I could not be happier. The teachers are intrested in their students and the principal could not be better. Even the caffeteria staff is nice!

My Grandchild has attended Stone Oaks Elementary Scool for the past 2 years. I am very happy with his studies and the wonderful dedicated teachers at this school. If you walk through the school halls , you will see many smile and teachers ready to answer any questions.

My son goes to this school and the total quality of the school is outstanding. I hear some parents complain about a certain teacher here and there, but overall everyone loves this school. The whole staff is involved, eager to help and most parents spend alot of time supporting them. The principal really knows what she is doing. My son's teacher is amazing.

My daughter accomplished a lot during her Kindergarten year. She had a wonderful speech therapist and a very caring teacher. She was challenged her first year and amazed us and a private school with her foundation in math and reading.

We recently moved from Maryland to San Antonio. After extensive research, we found positive reviews of Stone Oak Elementary school. Although, when I went to registar my son, I found out that the elementary schools in NEISD were being bused to different locations. This concerned us. Good news, was the school reassured us that two new schools were opening next fall. When relocating, please make sure that the schools are not over populated. Ask the school if they are busing children to different schools. We were glad we asked.

I believe the curriculum for first graders is unbelievable. The children are learning so much.

The school does not particularly challenge the students who are not on the top. They emphasize more on the brightest.
