Adams Hill has been plagued with scandal since 2013.We have had 3 principals in 3 years. NISD fired the 1st in 2013, but never notified parents of what occurred. In 2014, my middle child was supposed to be tested for Child Find. The school representative assigned to begin testing illegally advised that my child couldn t receive services & didn t fully test or submit the necessary evidence to the board as required by law. NISD didn t ensure legal accountability. She was ultimately fired, but NISD had to redo everything over the summer. G/T is treated as a class. The G/T teacher doesn t advocate for the G/T students with the teachers. Adams Hill doesn t address the breadth & depth of course curriculum that a gifted child needs. The 5th grade teachers this year advised that they were teaching only to the test, which means G/T students are left behind. I am desperately seeking other school options for my middle child who is highly gifted (IQ over 140) & has special needs. According to NISD, the principal decides how a G/T teacher & funds are used. Since the entire focus for teachers is the STAAR, G/T students don t receive the free & APPROPRIATE education to which they are entitled.

My sincere compliments for the professional approach to my child Mrs Guffey. She is an awesome and professionally equipped teacher . I strongly recommend she becomes a role model for all the teachers. I come from Europe and my son adopted to the changes perfectly with the help of Mrs Guffey

My son went to this school for second grade, and I will never allow him to go back. Just look at the demographics, test scores mean nothing. They prep the kids on the tests alone and the children aren't retaining the information. My son was bored out of his mind. I have never seen a group of such impolite children or teachers with such little control. My son didn't learn anything here except to act like all the fools around him. It took me two weeks of summer vacation to correct his bad behavior, and now he is finally my sweet boy again. I should have taken him out on back to school night when I saw some of the parents with teardrop tattoos on their faces. I'll trust my intuition more next time.

This is not a good school. Kids are violent and unruly. I hope the children learn how to prosper in life but DO NOT send your child here. The NISD discriminates by forcing only the schools with disadvantaged youth to wear uniforms. This is one of them. By NISD standards, school HAS to wear uniform=bad school.

1st of all why does anyone want to talk down on the Spanish culture we suffered enough and 2nd we don't get royalty some of the staff really need a hug or something because those individuals treat everyone unfairly this is a great school they just need to remember that if those individuals don't like there jobs, do us all a favor & change professions

This school is horrible, the staff is disrespectful, if you you english as your first language you get mistreated, if you speak spanish the staff treats you like royalty. We are in the United States sending our children to an American school not a spanish speaking school. Had to switch my child's school, do not send your child here!

Profile Completeness

BASIC

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
