SME is a fantastic school! They have great parental involvement and community support. They are one of the only schools that I know of that actually has a Veteran's Day Celebration. It's a big deal. The teachers are great and very supportive and caring. This is a fantastic school!

I could not have asked for a better educational experience for my child. My daughter attended Sugar Mill Elementary from K through 5th grade, every teacher she had was caring, supportive, creative, disciplined and over all, exceptional. I have nothing but respect for the principal, the administrative staff, everyone who works at Sugar Mill Elementary.

Principal: autocratic, focuses on fund raising and politics mostly. Teacher quality: all over the place - from excellent (4th grade team, music) to average and even weak. Extracurricular activities: very good choir, some sort of an environmental club (6 times per year). That's it, I'm not aware of anything else. Safety and discipline: rigid discipline based on punishment as opposed to positive behavior model. Overall quality: average. Special ed - inclusion looks good at first, however implementation in our case was a total fiasco

My son has a genetic disorder and went to Sugar Mill since he was 5 years old. We had a wonderful experience with the school from the beginning. The PPCD program is excellent and the teacher Ms Davis is excellent as well, very committed to her work. The kindergarten and first grade teachers were very good and supportive. Children with special needs have the opportunity of being in the regular classroom with the other kids, while pulled some times of the day to get one-on-one help with a special teacher, who was very nice, supportive, and excellent teacher.

This is an excellent school. I moved back to the neighborhood I grew up in just so my kids could attend this school. The teachers are great and the parent involvement is 110%.
