I am a student here and so I know the truth about this place. The school merely spends time on any real education. The only focus they have is on TAKS which is a state test.Every worksheet we do its just based off of taks and that is no good. why you may ask? well because i can ask a student here "hey what was the civil war all about?" and they could tell you the dates. but when i ask them who fought in it they go blank.it is because of this that the school only teaches us is what questions will be on taks and thats all the school cares about is just how they look on standardized tests because they get more money that way since the "no child left behind" has been enacted. if a student fails the taks then they will be robbed of their electives and are forced to take taks classes. in which all they spend thier education on is studying a state test. this is totally impermissible. it defeats the meaning of education. if a school only revolve a students education around a state test and only that and nothing more except in the form that those tests are made...well then u rob the childs time. Because in college..they'll expect you to kno just a little bit more than the dates of something

I recently toured the Texas High and they have made some key improvements with special attention paid to the Math and Science departments. With these improvements they will now be able to compete more in the areas of Math and science rather than just athletics. Great job.

The Principals are lacking, as is serious discipline. More time, energy and resources should be put into academics, instead of sports.

Texas High is an exceptional high school. It has a variety of backgrounds which is the way students should be educated. They have an incredible staff that really care about the students, TAKS scores will back me up on that one. The athletic program is exceptional and gives student/athletes a chance to do something useful with their time. The ratio of students to teachers is the way it should be, because learn and take in what is taught. Texas High keep doing what you are doing.

Good school, provides good opportunities. Teachers are friendly and outgoing. Principals are for the most part, approachable and understanding. Programs are well-rounded and interesting. Prepares students well for life after high school.

Tisd will not work with booster clubs. Very arrogant school officials . If you're not in athletics forget any co-operation.

I have 2 children that have graduated from T-High and one that is still there. If I could have moved them to another district I would have. The kids at TH are nice and some of the teachers are pretty good but the administration leaves a lot to be desired. Certain kids get extra benefits and their bad behavior is ignored especially if they happen to be an athletic star. The average kid gets lost in the shuffle. Only the brightest and most talented get any recognition. My kids were/are in the pre-AP, AP classes so I'm not speaking with a sour grapes attitude.

I adored my experience at Texas High. I can look back on those four years of my life with much joy and appreciation. The excellent teachers and faculty helped me earn my BA this past May and urge me to continue my education of the field of law. I was sent into college with a wonderful academic backing and social skills gained by particiapting in activities such as Student Council, TigerVision, Key Club, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, and many more. I highly recommend the school for a well-balanced, socially benefical high school experience in the Texarkana area.

My sons both graduated from Texas High. T-High has a lot to offer a student willing to learn. Overall the teachers are exceptional. The History and English Departments are top shelf. The school even offers a Leadership Class. The Math Department needs a little work. For the advanced math student, the teachers are excellent but they fall short for those students who don't quite get the concepts or for those other students for whom higher mathematics is trully a challenge. A program that is often over looked but which is trully exceptional at T-High is the Visual Communications Department. Tigervision is a top flight, nationally award winning program that challenges students at all levels. There trully is something for everyone in Tigervision. The athletics department excels in the major sports. The school could benefit from other interscholastic sports. Wrestling, for example, is a low cost program that teaches a student coordination and discipline. There is a crying need for a late bus schedule. Students participating in extracurricular activities are left to fend for themselves if they choose to participate. Overall, Texas High is probably the best school in the county. It has a good racial balance and a minimum of the types of problems found in many large schools. Texas High graduates compete quite well at major colleges and universities. In retrospect, I am glad that we made the choice to have our children educated in TISD.
