Delta High is a pretty standard small town school. Lots of great teachers, students eager to learn, plenty of extra curricular activities to dive into. Now that I'm a public (high school) teacher I realize how efficiently Delta High ran. One great benefit is how much choice students are allotted in their education. I teach in one of the countries largest cities and there is no where near as many electives/clubs/opportunities afforded students as I had in this small town school. Like all schools, there are a handful of paid professionals who need a little fire lit under them. I believe they could all be good employees, there's just too much politics and personal favors going around to really make the staff as great as they could be.
I am still currently attending Delta High School, This school is fantastic in certain areas, as with all schools. The strong points in DHS is its core curricular subjects such as Science Language. There is a gray area in math, the teachers are willing to help if asked they will not look at your grade and see if you need help. Sports are at an all time high, along with the Arts *(theatre, music, and studio arts)*. This high school is better than most!
My time at Delta High School was incredible. To have a successfull High School, you need to do well in sports. State Championships bring great pride in your school. Delta was always one of the best in Utah HS athletics so there is a deep feeling of pride. Therefore, the learning experience that I had at Delta was top-notch. It prepared me for college and for my career. I do believe that parents could have been a bit more involved in the academics...but sports will always reign in Delta!
I felt as a student my time was wasted at Delta High School. I had only about 4 quality teachers throughout my schooling and two were in math. The other teachers seemed to be hired mostly for their ability to coach. I myself am now a teacher and I cannot believe some of the teachers at Delta High were able to get away with such poor lessons plans.
