This school has not met my expectations at all. My child attended until we put her into another school last year. She was in the 5 th grade but at a 3 rd grade level. Since she has left she is now up to her grade level. The school did not care about our concerns or her education.
This school has been in a period of change for the last year. As a newly formed grade 3-5 school, the teachers are striving to create an educational setting that prepares children for the transition to middle school. New programs offer focused after school tutoring, drama, Girls on the Run, and opportunitites to volunteer in the community.
Union Street is an excellent elementary school. The teacher's work hard inspite of the last few years issues with construction right outside their windows and doors. The true test of a teacher is their students responses. I have viewed excitement, cooperation, responsibility and empathy in each and every classroom. Learning is daily, adventures are at every turn and I have never seen such a positive and kind team of educators. Our children are fortunate to attend Union Street.
