Aweful! Lots of lip service on being dedicated to the children and education but little follow-through: - Some primary teachers absent 20% of the time - Sparse or no lesson plans and inadequately trained substitute teachers - Books/workbooks purchased annually by parents but not used in class or sent home for their children's use, parents offered the opportunity to either buy them again at the end of the school year or see them sold to other schools - With no prior notice or indication parents were notified the school was closing permanently via a note home in their kid's backpack - Invoicing for extended care months behind schedule - Comments on report cards reflect serious concerns which teachers/principal have never been mentioned or discussed with either of a child's parents I would never consider sending my child to the new Early Childhood Development Center opening in place of the school. Considering that key staff remaining from the now closed school will be running it there is no reason to believe the attitude or lack of transparency will change. It's a money making venture with no concern for kids, parents or education.

Their Pre-k program is amazing! I have always heard great things. Intimate class size. Teachers help children develop at their own pace. Each child gets a lot of personal one on one time with the teachers because of the small intimate class size. Both my children went through their Pre-k program and were beyond ready for Kindergarten. They really know what they are doing and have developed a great curriculum.

This school is very disorganized and lacks structure and discipline for students. Teachers are caring but the lack of guidelines and consistent rules throughout causes confusion in discipline, study and homework.

My three children attend St. Charles. We feel so fortunate to have our kids there. The size allows teachers to teach to each student's needs, providing help where needed and challenging those that are ready and eager to learn more. They incorporate so many things into the learning process, causing the children to be more interested and invested in what they are learning. Most importantly, the school works to instill strong values in each child and educates them not only academically, but also spiritually and emotionally. The teachers and staff are so caring and there is a feeling that no child can get "lost" at the school, as they may in a larger school. The best sign is how the kids don't want to leave at the end of the day! A big testimony to the school is that it has students from all over the area. We don't live too close to the school, but like others, we are willing to drive farther for the quality of education and the caring community there. The school has a diverse community, in many aspects, which makes an enriching environment. It is a wonderful community to belong to and in which you can know that your children are thriving.

My child has attends St. Charles and we are very happy. The student teacher ratio allows for individual attention that gives each student a pathway to achieve success. In addition to the core classes, students enjoy an outstanding science program as well as band and Spanish. These programs begin in Pre- K and continue from Kindergarten to 8th grade. St. Charles has a warm and loving feeling that creates an environment where children strive. We are extremely pleased with our choice and encourage others to explore this great school.

St. Charles is the perfect school for my daughter - it balances academic excellence within a faith-based and nurturing learning environment. The individualized attention and unique curriculum create the competitive test scores and well-rounded students that St. Charles is know for. Additionally, the close interaction between teachers, students and parents alike creates a very close-nit family-like community. St. Charles school comes with my highest recommendation!

St. Charles School is a hidden gem in an urban setting. It is a warm, family-friendly school with excellent academic programs. It celebrates a wonderful diversity among its students and faculty. There is an outstanding science curriculum, a terrific band program, a Spanish curriculum from Kindergarten on up and a dedicated faculty that seeks to meet the needs of each individual student. My three children (all very different) attended St. Charles from kindergarten through 8th grade and I know it prepared them well for high school.

St. Charles provides each student with a very comfortable family oriented environment. The student teacher ratios and attention given to individual students is remarkable. The principal continues to keep pace with technology and is always on the look out for new and innovative ways for the students to learn just take a look at the new science lab! Thank you, St. Charles!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
