Bon Air is a wonderful school with diversity, wonderful resource programs, caring and dedicated teachers, and a very responsive administration. I won't say there haven't been any problems (particularly on the bus) but the amazing thing about Bon Air is how quickly, competently, and with caring these issues have been resolved. My children are receiving a top-notch education in a public school setting...the best of all worlds. They will be ready for the real world when the time is right.
My daughter is in Kindergarten. We love this school. The teachers are wonderful and there is so much parent involvement. We love this fact that this school is diverse and our daughter has the opportunity to learn from the rich cultures of other students. Also, the academics are excellent, test scores are high and classrooms are so kid friendly. The resource programs are first rate ( music, art, computer, library and PE program). Just a wonderful environment for learning.
the teachers there care so much about each child and prepare them well for the higher grades, so they can do well and accomplish their goals. They also make each child feel special.
I have one child who has been at Bon Air Elementary K through her current 3rd grade year. My other child was at Bon Air from 3rd through 5th grade and is now in 7th grade. I have been very impressed with the Principal and teachers at Bon Air. The PTA is great and Mr. Tetlow and Mrs. Lowery are awesome!
My husband and I moved to the Bon Air district after a lot of research about the school and the community. I could not be happier about our decision to move here. Our two children love the school and their teachers. The administration is very helpful and cooperative. You get that 'small town' feeling of community here that is so hard to come by these days--and another great thing about Bon Air is that there isn't room for any more development so it will stay small. We have never regreted our decision to move here. We love Bon Air!
My husband and I relocated here to Virginia in May. We bought a house in Bon Air because we heard so many great things about this school. I visited the school office during the summer time and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The parents are very involved with the school and there is a real sense of community with the parents, teachers, school staff and the students. Their academic program is excellent and well diversed in all areas of reading, math, language, social studies, art and science. This school stands out from all of the other schools my child has attended because the teachers, school staff, and parents are so caring and nurturing and there is a real sense of community in this school which is so rare in today's current environment. We feel so fortunate to have our child in Bon Air Elementary. This school is a gem!
This is our child's 3 year here and we have been very pleased overall with this school and the teachers. Parents are very involved and the PTA is strong. Their art teacher is great! I only have one complaint. The Principal needs to support the bus drivers in their efforts to discipline children on the bus and take their written referrals seriously. These problems should be addressed as if it had happened in a classroom... where bad behavior is not tolerated!
We love this school !!! the teacher/student ratio is great, every teacher is a jewel, the test scores speak for themselves, the pta is strong, and each child is genuinely cared for in a loving, respectful and individual manner. My children are very, very happy here. The principals are not only intelligent but very personable. The school focuses on each child's individuality as much as it can given it's not an alternative school. The school size is small enough that it feels like a family. There is emphasis on test scores, but not without a supportive and encouraging environment to go with it. My children stay encouraged because of all the programs at bon air to create enthusiasm. Bottom line, we just love this school...Go bon air !!!!
