We got very mixed comments about this school, some parents are really disappointed, and moved their kids out of lower school level in the middle of semester. Some parents satisfied. Maybe it's depend on certain class and certain teacher. We heard about excellent teachers, very loving and devoted in some classes, but also, we heard terrible one, cold, dominate,incapable...if kids got bad luck to be in this class, it'll be a year-long suffering. Principle can help reduce this kind of negative impact, but, seems not did good job on that. Hope it can be improved! Teacher and school are so important for kids to learn and to grow happily and confidently. PTA did a great job to improve the class though.
I have been with this school for 3 years and am quite involved. It is a large school, but the class size is average to small for Fairfax County. The staff, teachers and parents are amazing. Each staff member knows my child's name (and my baby's name) and no matter how busy everyone is, I'm greeted so warmly when I walk into the building. The staff treats the children with sweetness, patience and care as well and the teachers will go a million miles to help you out. I've had teachers call me "just to check in" when my child has been sick, I've had the new principal call me to chat about concerns in the middle of the summer and I just got off the phone with our teacher at 9PM regarding AP testing. If there is a problem, they are on it and it is fixed right away. A large school, but such a wonderful, small, friendly atmosphere. I come from a family where for generations, everyone went to a private school and moved to an Ivy League. I have high expectations. I have to say that this school gives children a lot of one-on-one attention and challenges them in a loving, happy manner. Of course I was nervous sending my child to a public school, but this is a great school.
I am so proud and happy that my daughter is in such a great school !!
This school is wonderful. Particularly for children with special needs.
My daughter has been with the school since first grade, now she is in fourth grade. Mr. Hull has been outstanding. We were considering buying a house in Aldie, Va, but could not bear to leave such a wonderful school. Many wonderful support team, wonderful teachers, office staff, and children.
My eldest attended Kindergarten there the first year it opened. My youngest attended pre-school for 2 years. The Principal was fantastic along with the teachers. The office staff are the best around.
My daughter goes to Kindergarten and we love the school. She is in the Differentiated program which is excellent for the kindergartners. She gets to learn things much above her grade level and is constantly challenged.
They have a very good Principal and his teachers are excellent. We are very glad that we moved our daughetr from a 'gifted' private school to this public school which happens to be quite new. She loves her school. They have challenging programs for gifted kids and good allround development. The best part is teachers are very approchable.
If you have a special education student, you should be pleased with this school. My child only attended the pre-K program here for 1 year, but thanks to the leadership from the shool's prinicipal, my child was able to receive the services that he needed. This makes a big difference in how much effort a parent needs to go through to help their special education child. The teachers also did very well that we encountered.
