Our oldest daughter has recently started middle school after attending Agnor-Hurt. We loved her teachers, the community spirit of the school, and the diversity of the student body while she was at Agnor-Hurt, and have been tremendously pleased with the way she was prepared for middle school. In 4th and 5th grade, the school begins moving the students between blocks for math, language arts, science, and history. This made the transition to changing classes in middle school a breeze. Also, my daughter was placed in honors math for middle school and is more than holding her own in this challenging class due to the strong math instruction at Agnor-Hurt. My younger daughter is still at Agnor-Hurt and her experience has been just as wonderful. She was experiencing some concerns/anxiety about beginning school and the principal and teachers have been extremely involved in ensuring that she is excited and ready to learn every day. They were responsive to my inquiries, answering emails almost immediately and following up after the concerns had been resolved to make sure everything was continuing smoothly. We are thrilled with the education of our two girls at Agnor-Hurt.
I had 3 different children attend Agnor-Hurt in each grade level and was impressed with every teacher. Both the principal and vice principal are very active in the school. The PTO has provided the school with new playground equipment. My children looked forward to school everyday and received quality instruction, especially Mr Hunter.
I am starting my 8th year with children at Agnor-Hurt Elementary and have been very happy with their overall academic success. This school comes with a very diverse community of learners and the teachers and administration here work extremely hard to provide a classroom environment where all students succeed. Mrs. Del Gallo and Mr. Granger support and nurture every child's heart and dreams. My kids have loved each and every teacher while here and have established special bonds with many. The leadership constantly seeks to add value to the school so something new and exciting this year will be a strings program offering violin classes to our fifth graders. Last but not least the office staff is superb!
Inspiration is a heart warming emotion that offers you guidance. Agnor-Hurt is a school that is truly inspirational. Mrs.DelGallo, the principal, is the pulse behind this. Her commitment to her students and staff is passionate , heart felt, and has an over whelming feeling of gentleness. She has the patience and insight to spark the fire in everyone so they have an enlighten journey to success. Mrs.DelGallo supports innovation, creativity, and places a lot of emphasis on the importance of the Arts in school. Mrs.DelGallo's voice is the voice of every child. Restorative practices are a big part of life at Agnor-Hurt. Students ans staff listen to one another and all voices are heard and valued. Agnor-Hurt offers more than an educational home, it is a safe haven with a sense of family and enrichment.
The staff is always caring and works hard to nurture the students so that they grow well academically and psychologically.
I am very pleased with Agnor-Hurt, the staff is amazing, I am on the PTO and there is alot of parent involvement and the school is so very welcoming, There are very few disclpine issues. I believe that is due to the principal team at Agnor-Hurt. They handle discipline in a consistent and effective manner that supports student growth, They embrace the Glasser Model which is based on building meaningful relationships with all children. This year the entire school has implemented restorative practices which helps student problem solve and come up with solutions. Every classroom holds circle meetings which helps create an atmosphere of open communication and a real sense of belonging to a classroom community. It is very powerful and it really seems to be working at Agnor-Hurt. My children have expressed to me that they love the circle meetings. I'm very happy with Agnor-Hurt!
I have been very happy and impressed with Agnor Hurt. My son transferred into the third grade last year. I was blown away with how they received him. He was put in the gifted category and the new gifted and technology teacher is great match for him. They are learning all kinds of innovative ways to gain understanding of their topics and the world, like using powerpoint and making documentaries. The new gifted and talented teacher is broadening his classes next year. The music program is also excellent. This year they offered afterschool programs and one of them is a music club that my son really loves. I love the PTO and think the principal is one of the most impressive women I have ever met. They just got approved to be an International Baccalaureate School, one of two in the region. If you are considering this school, please go visit.
My son has attended Agnor Hurt for two years now, Kindergarten and First grade. Ms. Orshoski was his teacher for both years and I have see such an improvement in his confidence and abilities, he hardly seems like the same child. She is an excellent teacher and brings out the best in her students. Additionally, all of my son's teachers care for him individually, and know him well. I have been impressed with his outcomes and the individual attention he receives in order to attain goals that we all participated in making. This is what counts to me.
We moved out of Agnor-Hurt to another school district for several reasons. We weren't happy with the the curriculum and we had communication problems with the teacher. More importantly, we were unhappy with how some discipline problems were handled. This was a repeated problem for us. We also wanted our kids to learn Spanish and heard that they would, but the program never really taught them anything. (To be fair, we have other friends in other districts with the same complaint.) Mostly, it was not a good fit for us and we are happier at our new school.
2007 - 2008 was our first year at Agnor-Hurt Elementary with our son in Kindergarten. We were impressed and pleased with our son's experiences. My husband and I felt fortunate to have been given the opportunity to participate in Samuel's educational experiences, including classroom events and field trips. The teachers quickly earned our respect and confidence - from homeroom to music, physical education and art. We were impressed by Principle Michele Del Gallo's vision and leadership to provide a caring and supportive environment to facilitate the learning and growth of the children. We are looking forward to 2008 - 2009 at Agnor-Hurt Elementary. Ted and Laura Knotts
