Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My daughter is starting kindergarten here this year and I could not be happier. I took her in for her assessment and was able to meet one of the kindergarten teachers who was automatically bonding with my child. That is exactly the kind of thing you want to see when putting them into a new place where you don't have much control of their day. The teacher also noted that there is also an Aid in each classroom so I'm glad to hear that there will be a little more teacher/child ratio. If needed, I will update this review, but I have a feeling this is the perfect school for us as I did PLENTY of research and even bought a house in this area just to get into this school.

I went to Georgetown and my daughter now attends there. The teachers are excellent and genuine. They are willing to go the extra mile to ensure your child has a wonderful education, and do speak to the parents, whether there is an issue or not. I love this school and could not ask for a better environment for my child to attend every day!

I have worked for the Chesapeake Public School system for 17 years. Fifteen of these years have been at Georgetown Primary. I love Georgetown Primary because of the wonderful empathy that is shown whenever one of GTP's staff and/or family member is in need of support due to an illness, loss of a loved one, a sudden catastrophically disaster (local, in-state, outer state, across the country), the Georgetown family is more than willing to help and give their best to support people in need. Contributions towards a charitable cause is equally supported. Teaching is one of my passions. I am highly blessed to work at Georgetown and plant seeds of knowledge. I am grateful to have so many caring teachers that go beyond the call of academic tutoring and into the classroom of the heart. None of us are perfect, so you want find a perfect school, but here at Georgetown, there is a spirit of excellence in promoting the BEST education and resources to our 'Little Braves' one student at a time. United We Stand, Together WE CAN!

This is a very caring & loving atmosphere that my Grandaughters are in. All the teachers I've had contact with are wonderful. The parent participation with everything they do is phenominal. I haven't been to a school nightly function that wasn't a packed house. The staff at GTP are truly caring, special people. I will miss this school when both the girls finish 3rd grade.

Georgetown Primary's environment is very nurturing, and the teachers allow the students to be actively engaged in the learning process. The teachers also take pride in their profession, and they are always willing to extend a helping hand not only to their students but to other staff members as well.

I am a teacher at Georgetown Primary. I love my school because teachers a devoted to their students and they provide a safe, caring place for children to learn. Our school has more teachers writing small project grants than any other school in Chesapeake, because we are trying to create the most up to date and innovative learning environment for our students. We collectivley support of community and causes we believe in and do a great deal of fund raising and public awareness. Go GTP!

The teachers at Georgetown Primary are exceptional. I have a child who has developmental delays, and her teachers have noticed which methods are more effective, and they haven't seen her as having a disability, but rather a normal child. I can't say enough wonderful things about Georgetown and all of their teachers and staff!

My wife is a teacher at GTP and I know that she loves her job, she is very dedicated and spends a lot out of her own pocket to make sure her kids don't go with out. I also volunteer at GTP once a year at Christmas time, and enjoy every moment I am there.

I love Georgetown Primary School because we give all that we have to educate our children. Our school is a title one school that requires everyone to go above and beyond the call of duty. Our staff, teachers and administrators give all they have to ensure the success of our babies. Many are willing to go into the community and serve our students. In the beginning of the year, we go and distribute supplies to some of our communities in need. We get the opportunity to meet the parents and students prior to the opening of school. It's an event that connects parents, staff, teachers and administrators right from the start. Georgetown not only fully supports our students, we support one another. When one of our teacher's baby passed due to being born premature, all of us were there for her. We raised a great deal of funds to assist her with this awful tragedy. Most of the money came from our personal funds. Since then, we have supported the March of Dimes and have become the number one supporter in our area. We have also supported Breast Cancer and the LifeNet association. Whenever there is a need, our school is ready and willing to meet it. I enjoy working at Georgetown Primary. It feels like home. When we rarely have any conflicts, our staff and teachers are willing to result to respect and professionalism to resolve the issue. Georgetown Primary is a school that meets the needs of students, the community, and staff. I love our school because it works for everyone involved.

My daughter has been in this school since Kindergarten and will be in 3rd this coming school year. We love it. I really have no negative things to say about the school except they need more parking spaces. Academically, I think they are wonderful and I would recommend anyone sending their child here. I am sorry to hear the one negative comment on here, but I definitely don't think this is typical. It must have been an isolated incident and somehow was not dealt with correctly. That's unfortunate, but does not represent any experience that I have personally witnessed at GTP.

We are a military family and we move a lot. My daughter did k and 1st grade at this school and I was devasted to have to leave. To comment on the first review, did you contact the teacher or school? We are married and caucasion and, I NEVER had a problem with the teachers or staff, they were always helpful and eager to help if a situation arised, personally you have to ask you self this question, are you prejudice. We moved in October of 2005 and the school in NY that she is at is very behind GP (good school though). I thought going to a northern school that she would probably be behind, but the rules were reversed. I would recommend anyone to send their children here. They are advanced in every aspect. When we moved to NY my daughter was ahead in reading, math, social studies.
