Trinity Christian School

This is our second year at TCS and we couldn't be more thrilled with a school! The academics are outstanding, the staff are caring, Godly role models for our children and the campus is outstanding. We toured most of the local Christian schools (before choosing TCS) and found TCS to be the most broad in it's curriculum and the staff the most educated. We chose Christian education for our children because we felt it appropriate to study both the Creator AND the created...TCS blends both beautifully! Our children are challenged academically and encouraged to develop Christ-like character. TCS is most definitely a school of excellence!

Trinity Christian School is the best place for my children to flourish and enhance their skills. They have a better understanding of who God is and what it means to follow His ways. The faculty and administrators do an outstanding job of displaying God's love to all the students through the way they discipline and the way they teach. Their academic level is outstanding and each student strives for excellence. Students are encouraged to think outside the box. The posting from November 15, 2011 shocked and stunned me because I struggle to understand the parent's persepective. In all my years at Trinity, which has been a long time, I have never experienced what that family describes. But I am happy they found a place where their children are happy; and truly wish them the best. Years ago, our family had a bad experience at a local Christian School but it never occurred to me to write negative reviews so the public can condemn them. Instead, our family prayed for them and took great comfort in God's Sovereignty. Hope this family can do the same. It is the best example for your children to follow.

Trinity offers an overly narrow approach to education. Instead of exposing students to rigorous thinking and the breadth of the Christian tradition, it requires them to "tow the party line"--i.e., a fundamentalist form of Christianity. In fact, when faculty encourage students to explore their own ideas, these faculty are often punished. Recently, one of the most gifted high school teachers was asked to leave. She was my daughter's favorite teacher. The principal is not collegial but autocratic; he does not lead by consensus. It is his way or you are out. Thus we withdrew our kids, and they are getting a much richer, more rigorous education elsewhere. If you want your children to be uncritical conformists, then Trinity is the school for you. If you want, rather, to encourage deeper thinking and give them life-skills for success in college and later in life, Trinity comes up short. I rather doubt that Jesus would feel welcome there!

Training Christian School (TCS) is a wonderful, academincally oriented Christian School. Our daughter has attended elementary school there for two years. TCS towers over Fairfax County Public Schools in academics. They especially stress reading skills and have achieved superior results with our daughter who now reads several grade levels ahead. That said, this is not a school for slow learners. They push kids to achieve their best, and there is homework every school night! Our daughter provides testimony that this school is much harder than the Fairfax County public elementary school (rated an 8 on greatschools.net) that she attended before enrolling in TCS. They also require the kids to memorize bible verses every week. Send your elementary school aged children here to give them a headstart on learning. TCS has motivated teachers that truely teach and care about their students. They are there to achieve results in learning and instill faith.

Trinity has been an excellent school for our children. It is hard to imagine teachers who could be more caring or committed to the success and well-being of their students. We are thrilled to see that the growth in student numbers has also brought growth in facilities, course offerings and extra-curricular options. Leadership of the school is very responsive to parent concerns.

I apologize to anyone out there who is totally OK with their children being totally cut off from anything secular: You don't have to read this. Trinity Christian School does its best to raise children in a righteous atmosphere, but they have and do indeed regularly cross the line into pompous self-righteousness. They are not 'in the world' at all, so you don't have to worry about them being 'of it'. A sort of arrogance pervades the campus that is simply inappropriate for a school of this caliber that ascribes to nominal Christ-likeness. Do not send kids here unless you're sending them in at a very very young age or your family has moved around a lot and is used to Good Old Boys systems in both administration/faculty and the student body. Go elsewhere. Poor academics selection, single-minded arrogance against the unsaved, and no preparation for college.

I am a former Trinity Student and I have to STRONGLY disagree with the second post down from mine [posted Dec. 24, 2008]; Trinity has superb academics. True, not all of the teachers are doctors. But because over one third of its teachers hold advanced degrees, I wouldn t say that they are unqualified and relatively unknowledgeable. Lastly, Trinity graduated have been accepted into prestigious schools. In the last two years alone, Trinity alumni have gone to MIT, The University of Chicago, West Point, The University of Virginia, The College of William and Mary, The University of Pittsburgh, Baylor University, and Virginia Tech University all FIRST TIER, NATIONAL universities. Next time, please do your research before writing a review.

We are extremely happy with the excellent education and nurturing, friendly environment at Trinity. We have been there almost 6 years and all my children have had a solid, positive start to their educational experience. The fondness the students have for each other and the immediate acceptance of incoming new students is heartwarming. A testimony to living the Christianity that is taught there.

I recently graduated from Trinity Christian School after attending for 6 years. Trinity is a very hard school and I was not a very good student. But while the academics were tough (too tough at times), I would not change my experience there for the world. Although Trinity Christian School of Fairfax does have its flaws (too academic and a bit too strict rules), it makes up for it in people (teachers and students) and in Christian Education. There are two aspects that make Trinity very special: the people and the Christian education. Many, if not all, of the teachers could teach at a public school and make a lot more money. But they are at Trinity because they have a calling to serve God by teaching students with a Christian perspective. Any parent wants a teacher who is as passionate to see their child succeed. At Trinity, you really have that.

I went to a strict Christian school, despite some of these reviews, I find the rules and regulations to be just right. This was my child's first year at the school, starting in 6th grade. The transition was a big leap in terms of academics and homework. I felt she jumped into the 10th grade. We were very impressed with the principal and administration. All but one of the teachers was outstanding.

Trinity will give your children a high-quality education but they can push kids too hard at times. I would say it's a good school for kids who are exceptionally intelligent but not so good if your child struggles academically. Also they do not offer much in the way of extracurricular activities, primarily because most of the students don't have time for anything but their homework. Also they don't offer much relevant help for spiritual growth. Chapel is stuffy and for most kids, does not impact their everyday life. in any sort of substantive way. You have to send your kids to a good Youth Group for that. All that being said, Trinity is well-run and the quality of the academics is stellar.

Trinity Christian School is an excellent school. Our children thrive under the loving care and thorough teaching. We are very excited about the new building addition. When we have expressed concerns both the teachers and administration have been responsive. We would not have our children anywhere else.

Trinity is a great school academically. They are highly organized and the teachers are amazing. Great facilities. Nice kids. But Trinity is all about academics. They graduate one-dimensional kids; the kids have very little fun. Also the sports program is below-average. If you want your kids to study from dawn to dusk, then this is the school for you.

Our daughter has attended Department of Defense Schools, Overseas schools, Public Schools and Private Schools over the past 11 years. She is also a gifted student. TCS has provided the best atmosphere of them all. The students are challenged, the teachers are engaged and knowledgable, the campus is clean and pleasant, the staff is kind and helpful and her classmates are warm, diverse and committed. Trinity is consistently graduating students into top Tier Universities! This is a Christian school that understands it's part in the shaping of tommorrow's leaders.

I went there for 8, long years of my life. It used to be a nice school before there was a joining of campuses. The teachers were relaxed, the administration friendly, the community close. Now... It's a super strict school with minimal course offerings. Send your kids there for elementary school. Take them out to public school from 6th to 12th grade.

Trinity Christian is all about academic. If all you care is the academic part then this is the school. The children have no time to be children. They are all about pushing the kids to be the best in academic.

Trinity has lost the true meaning of the love of Christ. Academically they strive to greatness, but suffer from lack of course offerings. Their discipline policy is unforgiving and unappropriate to the 'crimes' committed. If you are just searching for strict academic focus, well go ahead.If you are searching for a school that will prepare your child spiritually and academically, search elsewhere!

For the upperschool, TCS has definately gone down hill. It has very strict and annoying to the students. One problem is that the teachers/staff think are so serious when it comes to secular ideas. They make sure that the enviornement of the school is completely seperated from the world, ignoring everything not having to do with Christianity. The world is sinful and going to a school like this is only making the students less prepared to go off to colleges and into the work world. Second, they say that they prepare their students for defending the Christian faith in their own lives, but the Christian Studies classes are only learning studying the Bible in depth, something ineffective to students and making students more likely to reject the faith. Finally, they don't have enough classes. Students are forced to take different/repeated courses since there are such little options. Really consider before applying.
