Both my sons are at this school, and we are very happy. Class sizes are smaller than average, and the quality of teachers is very high. The PTA is very active with fund-raising which helps the school weather the current budgetary issues. My eldest son has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. The school has been excellent at accomodating his special needs and keeping us in the loop with respect to his performance and behavior at school.
We have our two daughters at this school and love it! The principal is extremely involved, knows all the kids and has lunch with them from time to time. The teachers are all outstanding - plan together so everyone in each grade level is doing the same thing. Wonderful experience - love the school!!
Having my son in kindergarten at this school has been the best experience for him. His teacher, Mrs. Uehling, is the most patient, understanding, kind and helpful teacher it has been my pleasure to know. The school has shown exceptional care as it relates to his development.
I've not been impressed by this school. They seem to have not handled budgetary cuts well. My child's teacher seems burned out and overwhelmed by the class size she is handling. There have been a few issues this year she has not handled well, including yelling 'shut up!' several times at the students.
Wonderful school! My two sons went to WFES for 3 years and we had a terrific experience with the teachers, parents and staff.
I think WFES is a fantastic school and I am so glad that we moved to this neighborhood. I have found the teachers to be caring individuals who go beyond the classroom to help children. The warm, community atmosphere is evident the moment you walk through the front doors. The administration is by far one of the best group of team players I have seen in a school. I couldn't ask for a better school experience then WFES.
The teachers and staff at this school are caring and supportive of all students. This is a school where parent volunteers are welcomed and play a major role in the classroom. The school is clean and up to date. There are many resources for the children to use and up to date technology. I love the blackkboard feature!
No this school is not good at all. It is completely out of date educationally.
This is, in my opinion, one of the best elementary schools in the country. The teachers are attentive, caring and go the extra distance to make sure that all of their students are doing their best. The staff is amazing and attentive. The facility is perfect (a huge field of grass out back), with an up-to-date playground. Though the parents can have their cliques (as with all schools), the kids tend to see past that ... interesting switch, huh? I give credit to the teachers for that.
I feel extremely fortunate that my daughter goes to WFES. As a former teacher and person who has worked in education for my entire career, I know how truly special this school is --in many ways that are clear to everyone acquainteed with the school, and others not so obvious. All of the adults associated with the school are truly a team working together to provide an outstanding enviroinment for students. And WFES students certainly reflect that in their achievement academically and growth as future adults learning how to respect one another and themselves. I realize this all sounds sappy, but I really can't imagine being happier with a school.
