I think this is a school that you get what you put in it. There are many great programs, like the robotics program, that is great! Many excellent teachers and a few bad ones too. I am very satisfied with my childs education. He has earned college credits and has a clear picture about his future Thank you Hopewell!

I am not pleased with the Hopewell school system. I feel that they focus more on SOL testing than preparing them for higher learning. As a parent that's where the additional involvement comes in.

I was more than pleased with my son's education at HHS. He graduated in 2007 and was awarded $45,000 in scholarships. I would like to think that was in part due to the teachers and the administrators. I would also like to think I did my part as being an involved parent.

This is an excellent high school with a diverse student body. Hopewell High was just recognized for the second year in a row as one of the few outperforming school districts in Virginia by Standard and Poor's. Read the facts - it is a very effective school. I am proud to teach at HHS!

I am a student who will be graduating in two weeks. I am very proud to be a Blue Devil. The teachers here care about us. The administrators are great. They really treat every one of us as an important person. I will be going to college on a scholarship to study engineering. I am very well prepared. I already have 12 college credits and I did not have to pay for them. Send your students to HHS.

I am a student at Hopewell high School and I might add that I'm not a proud one. I used to go to school in Prince WIlliam County and their school system is far more advanced than this one. In my freshman year, I transferred into a Spanish I and I already knew the things the teacher was teaching. In Prince William County, Biology can be taken as a freshman course, but here it is ONLY for sophomores. It's an ok school socially, but there is drama GALORE! Everyone's always arguing or fighting or something. When they need to be worrying about their education.

As a current substitute in this school and several others in the local area I highly recommend that you rethink sending your teenager to this school. Hopewell High is by far the most poorly run High school I have ever worked in. Constant fights, high drug traffic, and horrible administration are the three major defects. Also, there is no motivation coming from the administration for furthering education beyond High School. Do yourself a favor, travel the extra 15 min. and put your teenager in Chesterfield or Prince George County Schools.

As a former student of this school, I can give parents some advice-send your kids to private school, or move to Colonial Heights or Prince George. I went to this school for 9th and 10th grade. I endured, among other things: fights in the hallways everyday, smoking in every bathroom to the point where every bathroom in the school was closed except for the ones by the cafeteria that were staffed by a monitor, sub-standard administration, lax discipline, racism directed at both white and black students I transferred to L.C. Bird High School In Chesterfield County before my 11th grade year, and there was a WORLD of difference! Go out to the county. This school system is awful!

I am a 1984 graduate of Hopewell High School and I currently have two children enrolled in the 9th and 12th grades. The quality of education they are receivng far exceeds the standards of my day. I am convinced that, with the right level of parental involvement, my children are receiving a good education here that will prepare them for the next steps in life.
