Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Love Valley! It has been great for both of my kids. Most of the teachers are fantastic.

I love Valley. The school spirit is great and it makes all the students feel like they really belong. Everyone I've met has been very kind and ambitious; there are a few stray students who could do better, but they are the outliers and generally students value hard work instead of partying. The teachers are all very well trained and genuinely care about the success and well-being of the students and the rest of the faculty is eager to help in any way they can.

This school is outstanding. I have two children currently enrolled at LVHS and both love it and are receiving a wonderful education. My kids are two very different people with very different interests, and the fact that both equally enjoy the school says it all. One of my daughters is a cheerleader and loves it. The other is in the student council and KEY club and adores both programs. The principal is wonderful and involved with all of the programs. The teachers are excellent. Both of my daughters are in all the honors and AP classes they can take and have immensely enjoyed the challenges they offer. The school spirit (chiefly the student section present at all varsity games known as "The Jungle") is just amazing. Valley also has a wonderful reputation for its high test scores and impressive college admissions. You cannot go wrong if you choose this school.

We just finished our first year in this area of Western Loudoun County and we love it. There is a new high school (Woodgrove) that opened, so now the student population at Loudoun Valley HS is "normal"... should be about 1000 students for the 2011-2012 school year. The middle schools are back to being "normal" (i.e., 6th thru 8th grade). LVHS took away the "temporary classroom" buildings that lined the front of the school, and has let go of some teachers, etc. to accomodate the smaller student body. My 3 teens have enjoyed the year and made friends fairly easily.

I'm a rising junior at Valley and I have had a very good experience. Valley is extremely over crowded with nearly 2,000 students in grades 10-12. It makes for some very crowded halls and late lunches (1:30 for those on D lunch). Both the teachers and students are very friendly for the most part. In terms of teachers, we have really good ones and we have some duds but that's the case any where. We have lots of different extra curricular activites and my guidance counselor has always been very approachable and helpful.

Loudoun Valley is one of the best schools My Daughter ever attended, The care and concern were great, the programs, the classes offered and prep for higher education, really paid off. Thank you!

The students, parents and teachers of LVHS are wonderful. However, the extreme over-crowding makes it an unpleasant and limited environment. We moved to another school district in Virginia and found that our children, who were in advanced (Honors) classes in Loudoun, were at grade level or behind in science, foreign language and AP opportunities. Hopefully, with the new high school, Loudoun will once again offer the great opportunities of previous reviews.

Loudoun Valley High School is an exceptional school! My education from this wonderful school prepared me for an outstanding college expereince at The College of William and Mary and for life, in general. The guidance staff encouraged excellence and suggested innovative opportunities for advancement. I loved the band department and director whose heart for students is boundless. I had the opportunity to choose from at least 8 private schools and the highest ranked Fairfax County school. I am glad I chose LVHS. Many thanks for the opportunities, challenges, and encouragement.

Great school, with wonderful teachers. The problem is the school is way over crowded. The Town of Purcellville continues to fight the building of a second HS(Woodgrove), which is sorely needed. I would not recommend moving into the area because there is no end in sight.

I recently moved here 1 1/2yrs ago and we move a lot. I am impressed with LVHS! I go to to PTO meetings to see whats going on. The principal attends every single meeting. She is very involved in making things better for the kids. The parent support is wonderful for kids and teachers. The kids are given their chance to excell in school and go on to college. The guidance dept. is very helpful in the areas of directing your child into the right course selection and even colleges. The communtiy spirit here is incredible. We chose a nice area to raise our kids.

LVHS serves a very wide geographic area, but has a close knit feel. The teachers and students are very dedicated to the excellence of this school, as others mentioned. AP is exceptional. College preparation A+! The-Best-of-LCPS! This website lists enrollment at 1322. It's actually a school designed for capacity-1344, but we have 10-trailers and 2pm-lunches added to serve over 1500-enrolled. This should be grades 9-12, but it's 10-12. Grades 8&9 are 'temporarily'(5years now!) going to an Intermediate-school to alleviate overcrowding in our middle and high-schools. A new high-school was approved to be built-and-opened by 2008, but the town of Purcellville is litgating against the location, at the educational expense of the entire school's population outside of that town. Their litigation against the School-Board is bound to delay the opening of the new high-school. Alternative solutions include busing to far-away schools, split-sessions, or more trailers. Beware and stay tuned!

Simply put, Loudoun Valley is an amazing school. I went there for two years, which really isn't enough to take in all it has to offer. Valley's teachers actually enjoy teaching and they're good at it. Most of them take extra time outside of class to help students succeed. For example, during study hall, Math teachers will work one-one-one with students who come for help. In general the atmosphere is about learning and doing your best. There are also a variety of clubs and activities, some of which meet during school (during activity period on Fridays). It's definitely a growing school... many people have moved into the Purcellville area over the past few years. Yet Valley is still committed to excellence no matter how many new students arrive (and a new high school is coming soon). I loved attending school there and I really feel prepared for college because of it.

My son got an excellent education and great opportunities to utilize his musical talents at this school. The curriculum choices are very good. We were sorry to leave the area for this reason.

I attend Loudoun Valley, and this school is more than I could have asked for. Loudoun Valley students are known throughout the county for being the most respectful, well-mannered, and nicest students. There is a tremendous amount of school spirit, and I'm always proud to say that I attend LVHS. Our school is truly unique, another school in our county has a identical floor plan, and when I visited it for a SAT class, I was thankful for how amazing LVHS really is. Our halls are decorated with pictures students have taken of the county, our courtyards and school surroundings feature beautiful gardens and places to sit and relax. I always feel safe and welcomed, and the staff of LVHS is the best, most helpful, and kindest that I have encountered. The staff and administrators even takes the time to learn your name, even if you're not one of their students.

I go to this school. There is no place I'd rather be, and I've been other places. Wandering teachers never leave Valley. We are constantly complimented for having the kindest, most welcoming student body possible. There is almost no crime here, it is perfect. We are smarter than most schools, although you can't tell because we are on a tougher grading scale. In the end it pays off, we learn to work hard, and we do work hard. It's a beautiful school in many ways. You won't regret giving us a try.

We couldn't have asked for a better school for our daughter, who graduated in 2003, or for our son who starts his sophomore year in 2004. The small size makes it better than all other schools in Loudoun County. We do not have the problems that many other schools in eastern Loudoun have due to their uncontrolled growth issues. This is still a small-town high school with all the benefits that give our children a sense of community and belonging, things that cannot be taught in the classroom. Academically, Valley students consistently prove themselves superior. They are well prepared to enter college. The school unquestionably produces leaders. The high school sports teams are unbelievable. Six teams (both boys and girls teams) came in first last year, an incredible feat. Fresh air does indeed make better athletes!

As a parent of a student, I feel the education level at Valley is unsurpassed. One only has to look at the state and national test scores to see the quality of the teaching. Most graduates go on to higher learning. As for sports, quality is indicated by their state standing.

The school definitely lacks in diversity and different cultures. Most of the people that attend this school have been together most of their lives so whenever newcomers join the school they often find it difficult to fit in fully unless they go party-hopping every weekend. The one thing that is very distinct about this school is the school spirit the students show, and the continuin rememberance of one of the greatest principals Loudoun County has seen, Mr. Ken Culbert. He is what held the school together and the students in it, since he has been gone the showmanship has been lacking.

As a graduate of LVHS I found my education to be invaluable! I loved the teachers and my education. I owe a large part of my futre to the teachers and environment that LVHS offeres to its students. Without the guidence of the amazing Art teachers I would not be succeding in the college or the art world as I am today! The one problem I see with Valley is the lack of Diversity in the type of people, the ethnicities and the values held by students. I have learned a lot about diversity since leaving Valley and it has been invaluable, I only wish I had seen more of it in High school. Otherwise, excellent school!

I loved my time at LVHS and I was sad when I had to leave before graduation. I loved the teachers, students, everyone connected with the school.
