I find Richmond County Elementary to be a good school. They are family oriented and a very caring staff. The teachers that my children have had and currently have work well with both of them. They communicate well with me on regards to how my children are doing in school. Compared to the school my children went to in Maryland, Richmond County Elementary is the best.
There has been a decrease in teacher aides in the elementary school. My child only had one for 45 minutes the last quarter of her kindergarten year. Last year, none was provided for the her class. Northumberland Elementary School nearby has a teacher aide for every class K-3 and then some for the older classes. I asked the asst. superintendent about this and was given the response that 18 students was an adequate amount for 1 teacher to handle, even if some need extra help.
The specail education program is very poor.
