Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My daughter started in this school last year as a second grader. Though her teacher was great and she has learnt so many things in her second grade and got almost perfect grades, but not so happy about the overall performances of this school. Overall test results are not satisfactory at all, need to be more tough and more challenges to all students and parents should be more co-operative as well. Staffs are not so friendly, though so good to see principal standing outside every morning to greet students. I am not happy to see the rating 2 for this school in our first year at Neabsco Elementary school. I believe it deserves bit better.

Have alien pod creatures infiltrated Neabsco Elementary School in the 2 years since the last of my kids who went there moved on to middle school, or something? Because my own family's experiences there do not correspond at all with some of the lowball ratings and scathing reports I see here. The office staff and other administrators were always perfectly pleasant with me and my wife, and I thought the teachers and staff did a truly superb job, seeming FAR more "engaged" than those in the school in (allegedly better) Fairfax County we had moved from. Surely Neabsco deserves far better than the 2 out 10 rating it currently holds, which makes it seem like the staff are maybe just letting the little savages fight wolves in a pit for food or something. Really folks: if you are buying a house nearby and are now spooked by this GreatSchools nonsense, just breathe deeply and relax: Neabsco is a perfectly fine and secure school with great and devoted teachers and staff, and your kids will be just fine there. I promise. Also, I have it on good authority that the lunch fare is WAY better at Neabsco than the slop served at Saratoga E.S. in Springfield, so there's that to consider too.

i thought this was a good school and boy was i mislead.my child was in kindergarten. She came home crying alot when asking the teacher she blamed the aide when asking the aide she blames the teacher. i have transfered her to another school a few miles away and she is so happy she is learning things more at the new school. the office staff at neabsco are very rude and the principal is about what makes him look good. My child was late for school 5 times and missed 3 days the princpal calls me for a conference bc she was a transfer student. after he finished talking i kindly let him no that his kndergarten teacher has been late to school several times, leaves early and misses quite a few days a month. so if he wants to set a example he needed to start with his staff first. Thank you god she is out of that school. i do not recommend anyone going to school there please move out of the district. they don't even deserve one star.

If you are considering moving to this district, think again. Take it from a parent, you are better off in a different school. The principal is brand new & is more concerned with test scores than individual students needs. There is no discipline procedure other than to panic and punish. Principal is an alarmist who will call you for minor behavior issues. Our experience has been a nightmare. He doesn't listen to your concerns, will back bad decisions by teachers and will tell you "we have yrs. of experience & we know what we're doing."

I have had 3 children either formerly or currently enrolled in Neabsco for a total of 6 years. In all of those years we have only had one average teacher all of the others have been excellent ! All of my children were at or above grade level. Linda Trexler, the principle has done amazing things! Neabsco has a very diverse student body but in no means is scary as a former teacher posted how unprofessional! I do have to agree the office staff is rude.

I taught at this school for one year. It was the scariest year in my teaching career. Many years later I still have nightmares about that place. Linda Trexler is a saint to come to this school. She is the best thing that could of ever happened there.

My children's teachers are great. MOST staff is. Office staff is beyond rude and always acts as if you are bothering her. I am a VERY active parent and am there on a daily basis. DAILY I see office being rude to both adults and children (unless of course principal is there). Security is an issue as well...county fails to see this. Need better subs as well...someone that the children can understand would be a help. Staff needs to support after school activities- not leave it all to 1 person.

My child currently attends the school and I love it. I am very involved, I attended the back to school nights and whatever function concerning the kids I am there. The school is great. I am very particular when it comes to my kids education and I must say I have had only good expeirences with the teachers and the office staff. I have dealt with the office staff on several different occasions and each time they were nice, helpful and friendly. I don't know what was going on in previous years but as of Jan. 2006 everything is great and up to par. I am a very satisfied and pleased parent.

My children have not attended Neabsco that long, but I have seen how much they enjoy their new teachers and environment. I have also spoken with their teachers, and I sincerely believe they are committed to my children's success. My duaghters attend SACC there as well, so I am 'in the building' every day. I agree to an extent about some of the comments regarding the office staff. I think they need to realize that, in many ways, they are the 'face' of Neabsco, the first people the parents see when they go in there, and I did sense a lack of order/process in some cases. However, overall, I think my kids are really thriving here.

This is my first year teaching at Neabsco. I would not want to teach anywhere else. I am so proud to work in a school full of dedicated teachers. Our principal goes above and beyond her call of duty each day. It breaks my heart to read some of the comments on this board. Neabsco truly is a school of excellence! I am so proud to say I work at Neabsco!

I have been teaching at Neabsco for six years. Everyone at the school works very hard. We have high expectations for ourselves and our students. I am very disappointed by the following posts. The parents that have posted comments do not know the whole story and are making accusations that are not true. It really makes me sad to read these because Neabsco is a great school! If you do not like what is going on, get involved with the school. We have so many wonderful programs and activities that happen at Neabsco. If you want your child to have dedicated and hard working teachers then this is the school for you. The staff and students are really Neabsco STARS!

The office staff is rude to both parents and especially the students. My son's speech teacher quit halfway through the year and the school failed to provide a replacement for her. This school is just awful.

I am a parent of a current student. I think it is very true that the office staff is rude, unprofessional and not very helpful. There has been a high turnover rate in the teaching staff over the past two years. I believe that the principal and teachers are working very hard to get the students educated and the parents involved in their child's learning. I personally appreciate the teachers and principal for the effort that they have put forth to teach my child about respect, discipline and academics.

The administrative staff at this school has alot of work to do in terms of customer service/ relations and plain courtesy. Very rude and arrogant! The school itself needs an overhaul. It is my understanding that several teachers have already left/resigned from the school. I have already pulled my child out of this school. I suggest that parents do some serious research before enrolling your child at this school.

I have never dealt with a school and staff quite like this one before. Office staff is very rude! And it almost seems as if you need a top secret clearance to speak with the principal! As far as quality of education - there is none! Needs alot of work. My child will not be attending this school again!

I think Neabsco is one of the better schools my child has gone to. My child's acdemics have only gone up and improved since their going. The staff is wonderful and the teachers are very caring and do want the best for your child. I think the teachers do the best job they can under the poor parent partication the school has. This school works hard and expects the most out of it's students.

As a teacher I am very offended by the comments posted! I have been 'TEACHING' at Neabsco for 4 years. I absolutely love my school and the children in the school. How many parent volunteers have I had in the four years? None! I find it funny how a parent is quick to blame the teacher or school when what they really need to do is take an active part in their child's education. I take great pride in what I do and wish that parents would stand behind their child's teacher and show support rather than criticize what the teacher is doing. I think Neabsco is one of the best schools in Prince William County and would love for my children to attend this school.

I have to disagree with the other posts. Everytime I am in the building I see nothing but hard work. The staff at Neabsco works harder than any other school probably in the country. I think it is easy for some parents to critize than actually work with the teacher. If you had any questions why wouldn't you go to the teacher? I know for a fact that monthly newsletters are sent home keeping parents updated on events in the classroom, curriculum, ideas on how to help your child maintain information taught. Each grade level has SOL Nights which review techniques that can be used to reinforce skills that are taught in class. Mrs. Trexler is the heart of the school. She will always make time for her staff and parents. I am disappointed with the parents not the school! I am delighted with Neabsco- keep up the good work Neabsco!

Unfortunately I have to agree with the previous comments. My kindergartener went there and I am happy to say will not be returning. I agree that the office staff is rude and the curriculum is poor. My daughter was not challenged at all. That school really needs a complete overhaul. Very disappointed.

This has got to be the worst school in Va! The office staff are rude and nasty, that's pretty sad when these are the people who make the first impression of the school. Safety is definitely not enforced at Neabsco, they choose who they card. My personal children have been picked several times by people who are not even on the list and were never id. There are sevral teachers who are hostile towards the children, why are they teaching? And what are they teaching? Its funny how you can always tell when someone from the board is in the building, everyone has on their fake smiles! Everytime you asked to speak to Mrs. Trexler she's in a meeting, the school has gone down hill fast since the change of prinicipal. Besides with all these meetings who's teaching the kids? You have to give respect to expect it from the children. Worst school I've ever seen!

This school is the worst school I have ever had to deal with. The administrative staff is rude and unfriendly and the turnover of teachers is unbeleivable. How is a child supposed to get a good education from a school who's leadership is questionable. As far as child safety, it's scary to know that anyone can walk into the school and pick up a child without any questions asked. And the only excuse you get from the staff is that it was 'crazy around here that day and I am sorry for the mistake'. That mistake could have turned out to be a more tragic one.

Poor quality school.Office staff rude and uncaring. Does not seem to be a safe place for children. County will do nothing to correct issues with the school. How can our children prosper when they are taught in a school that is filled with such hostility towards children, and teachers that have no clue??
