We have been so happy with CMS its amazing. They have truly worked with us and our kid to push him to do his best and succeed. The teachers are wonderful and really willing to work with you to help your child.
I love Cheney middle school! Lots of fun electives and ALL the teachers are nice, funny andjust awesome over all! CMS is very safe and the disipline is fair.I am a sixth grader and a lot of the parents are worried about sixth graders going into middle school but I love it!
My kids transferred in mid-year and they had a wonderful transition. The classes were challenging, lots of choices for electives and clubs. I don't know enough about it to comment on parent involvement, but I was extremely happy with the school. The kids were all very welcoming and counselors oversaw the transition. There seems to be excellent parent/teacher/counselor communication.
At this time we are having some difficulty with this school. Our student has gone from a 3.6 GPA to a 2.2 in just 4 weeks and not one teacher or administrator has bothered to contact us to see why this has happened. At this point we are not sure ourselves other than some of the teachers have chosen not to use the tools given to them to help the student and parent stay on top of things, such as using Skyward, a very important part or tool that is used by most of the teachers to let the parents know how the student is doing and what if any assignments are being given and if they are being done or not. Also we have found that some teachers feel that mediocrity is fine and that the students don't need to excel. It is also very hard to talk to the principal.
