My child has learned nothing at this school. We came from GA where he was advanced and now he is behind. They don't focus on the three R's enough. I think education got lost and America needs to go back to the basics of learning. Math and Reading are the most important subjects. If time allows then teach culture. Culture is not that important. The kids will learn culture as they grow up just like we did.
Great staff who are totally interested in welfare and learning of students
Pleasant Glade is a wonderful school. I have two children who currentlty attend. They love their teachers and have made many wonderful friends. The office staff and teachers are very supportive and always willing to help. When anyone asks me where my children attend I proudly say Pleasant Glade Elementary, the best school in town.
Pleasant Glade is a very diverse school helping students to understand and appreciate many different cultures. The students there are wonderful and the Principal ( Mr. Walton) truly cares about each student and has gone above and beyond for his school he offers students who are on time and not absent a 'special lunch' to enjoy with their parents or loved ones and each of those students recieve a cookie and bookmark for their efforts. I love this school!
I love Pleasant Glade Elementary because we have awesome team work on all levels. This teamwork is between parents, PTA, staff and especially our students. I love our cultural diversity and our willingness to try many approaches to help our students succeed academically and socially.
PGE is a great school where there is always lots of learning taking place.
Caring and Thoughtful teachers. Principal goes out of his way to make sure that each student feels accepted and a valued member of the PG community. All you need to do is spend some time at the school one day, any day.
I agree that most of the teachers are friendly and on the most part the school is safe, but to receive a 4 out of 10 is clearly unacceptable and more has to be done to increase the educational componet at the school. We don't need to feel all excited because we are greated with a typical rehearsed smile, we need a stronger effort in getting the children to meet this ridiculous standarded called the WASL.
Pleasant Glade is a wonderful school that is rich with social and economic diversity. The staff and Pleasant Glade genuinely care for the children. My children are happy to get up and go to school every day. They are eager learners and I think that says a lot about the staff at this unique school. The four rating doesn't give the school the true rating it deserves. There is always room for improvement and I believe this school strives for it.
We just recently moved from Germany to Washington and enrolled both our boys into school at Pleasant Glade Elementary, a 4th grader and 5th grader, they enjoy this school better compared to their previous school. I have never seen them so excited about learning before or even wanting to get up in the am and go to school.
After seeing the WASL scores for this school I was worried about sending our daughter there. However, I have seen nothing that would indicate there is a failure on the staff's part. The school is very diverse (income and ethnically) and I believe that is where the breakdown comes from--although I do not see it as a determent.
Good school, invested parents. Academics are strong and kids are generally safe and happy.
My son went to Pleasant Glade for two years , 5th and 6th grade. We found the teachers and staff to be excellent. PG has a great Enrichment Program for capable students who would benefit from a more challenging and exciting curiculum. Parents can be and are encouraged to be involved but if you can't be you can still feel comfortable with the great comunication and understanding the teachers are willing to give. This school also offers fun field trips and a great 6th grade nature expierece at a weekend camp in Gig Harbor (Camp Seymour) My son had the best time with his class and teachers there. Overall we were very happy with this school on many levels.
I am the parent of three children who have attended Pleasant Glade since 1993. My children have had an incredible experience here. The teachers are incredible. There is so much opportunity to enrich your child and so many services provided, it is amazing. We do not always get the best press because the school is not amongst the wealthiest, however it is rich in so many other ways.
