Fanstastic Principal with amazing caring, although I question how well she can attend to managing all she has on her plate. Teachers seemed overwhelmed, yet push kids to be good citizens while learning. Very active PTA, but where is the room for creativity? Not much art at this school and teachers are overwhelmed with the amount they must teach and to too many kids (27 per class!). Teachers are highly qualified and want what is best, but can they do their job given the overwhelm? If your child has any special needs you must push to get him care, and this concerns me.

The only reason I give this school a 4 is because I think the staff there has a lot on their plates at times and the process can take awhile if your child has some special needs. However, they are a public school and will not deny education to anyone. Shoreline School District is one of the best in the State. They have inovative programs like The Journey Program which is aimed at 6-8th grade. The school is located 20 miles North of Downtown Seattle in a forested, suburban setting. Third Place Commons at the local Town Center is a big community gathering place and school choir events are held on the stage there. Lake Forest Park is an incorporated city with it's own government and city services including police dept. There is 1 D.A.R.E. officer on the payroll to the district and he has a strong presence at the local schools.
