There is ALWAYS something POSITIVE going on at this school! School BBQ, Movie Nights, Spring Extravaganza, my son's 1st grade concert- amazing, AND great teaching!!! PTA Rocks! Cascade Staff rocks! We have an old building, but lots of heart! We love Cascade Staff!
I can tell this school goes above and beyond to serve their students. Last week there was an issue in our neighborhood and kids were kept late to avoid blocked streets. Later that night I saw teachers and principal walking kids home. Way to keep them safe. Thanks from a community member who notices.
My son is attending Cascade for the first time this year as a 1st grader. I have to say, I've been very impressed with the staff. My son has an amazing teacher whom we adore and the Principal is very involved, friendly, and makes it a point to get to know every student and knows most by name. The PTA, although small, is wonderful. The PTA activities have been a great joy and have outstanding attendance. The parents at this school seem to be very involved in the education of the kids which is a refreshing change from our last school experience. Overall, we are very impressed and grateful to have the opportunity of being involved with such wonderful, caring people.
My daughter has had problems in reading since she started school. With the help of her teacher and extra support from Title I, my daughter is now reading on grade level. I'm happy with the work these teachers do. We had fun at the Halloween Dance! Love PTA.
I have a son who is diagnosed with PDD, DD, ADD along with other things. He is in fourth grade and has been going to Cascade since first grade. He has been able to get the help that he needs from each his teachers and specialists all these years. The principal is involved and shows great leadership skills. Always been an open door policy. I also have been very happy with the staff at this school. They have been so wonderful and when it comes to the parents involvment it is wonderful. If I am late picking up my child another parent waits with him until I get there to make sure he is alright. I enjoy the activities the PTA has for the kids and I think their curriculum is wonderful.
As a parent of 3 children going to Cascade, I love the teachers and staff. If you want to be involved there are plenty of opportunities and it is encouraged by everyone there.
If more parents were involved...and not just in PTA....this school would be fantastic! In my experience with other schools...it's the ones with many parent volunteers that have the advantage.
From the looks of the building did not want my child to attend Cascade at the beginning of the year, but after getting involved, joining the PTA, and helping out in the classroom, I've found it to be not as bad as I expected.
I have had three children at this school for three years now. I have a set of twins. Every year one of the twins is places with a good teacher, the other has had duds every year. Our questions regarding moving the child who is falling behind fall on deaf ears every year and we rarely, if ever, have our phone calls returned. For two of our children, we are comfortable with the education they are getting. Because of teacher turnover, our one child has had six teachers in three years due to teachers leaving for various reasons. The result...poor education and he is suffering. But as we've been told repeatedly, they know best. Bleh!
great school active parental involvement they Have combined 4-5 grades kids keep the same teacher for two years
Great Principal! Building is run down and awaiting the passing of a city wide bond, but excellent teachers make the inconvienience of the building a second thought.
I have been very frusterated with this school. There has been a lack of follow through with the administration from the teacher to couselor to principal. I've tried to get help with my sons reading and I was directed to contact my physcian. I've tried several diffenent avenues and reached no help. There has been several occasions when there has been a lack of reinforcement for good behavior and over-board on the discipline for bad choices.
I moved to Marysville in the middle of october of 2003.This move was to be an experience of a life time, our first home! It was very hard to explain to my kids that they could not start school. And I believe it is a danger to drop and pick up my kids. The school needs to update facility and replace the drop and pick up lanes. I do not agree that the traffic shlould be treated like airport lanes due to kids getting out of cars and not focusing and the fast coming traffic.
I was a student at Cascade 1995-2001 and my experience was pretty good. Although it is not the best school, it is still focused on educating the children, and does a very good job.
I have had two children at Cascade for 3 years now. I am very pleased with the personal attention to each of their needs and the staff's intimate observations of each child. They truly are individuals rather than numbers, which is so common these days. I have been received openly at Cascade as well. Any and every time I have contacted any staff member, I have been treated as if I were their only project for that day. Thanks so much Cascade Staff for going above and beyond the call of duty. Thank you for caring.
The first reviewer's comments reflect the fact that their child was a terror in the classroom, and bully on the playground. Other children were harrassed and intimidated by their actions. This parent did nothing but complain, rather than to work with the staff to help provide a postive situation for the child. I understand the child has now been suspended from said private school. Listen to their teachers, they know how to help, but only when the children have good role-models at home. Cascade is a wonderful place. It is a sanctuary of safety, and a place where learning is a top priority. Students are respected by their teachers, and most kids try their best. The staff at Cascade go beyond the expectation, and provide a great learning environment. Considering the age of the building, the furnishings, the campus infastructure; one can only be amazed at how successful it is.
I am now placing my children in a private school rather than continue to allow the overall apathy displayed by this school's personnel to further damage my children's education.
Cascade is a wonderful school. I went to cascade for 1 year myself and it is an honor to have my son go there as well. The teachers are so patient with my son. He really enjoys school and I think the teachers have alot to do with that. This is a wonderful school and i would refer cascade to anyone.
