Why do school's keep bad teachers? The middle school has one in perticular her name is Mrs. Schmitt. She doesn't care about the students or if they pass. The superintendent of the schools is also very political he will bend over backwards for you if you have the right last name but gives no support to his teachers especialy the middle school. since he came it as gone down hill and he keeps blaming it on the money. The High school only has high marks because they send the bad performing kids to their virtual school so that it doesn't effect their rating of how the kids are doing which makes the principle look good over there but he is just up the superintendents aasss( Mr. Scott Fenter) I have childeren that have graduated and have some still attending. This will have no name on it because they don't like opinons at this school very much. If you don't follow there game plan then they try to shut you out. Signed Very concerned Parent!
i love Onalaska High school their are soo many great students there
This scholl is lacking in every depertment. And sports.
this is a wonderful school where my son goes to.
I graduated from Onalaska High School in 2003. I really liked this school. Great sports program and teachers. There's a place for everyone there.
Worst school ever. Keep your kids away
I too was a student in the Loggers '86-'87 era. After having my own children I have to disagree with a statement made regarding people not fitting in and sports orientation. You see, my oldest attends a large school located in Portland, Or. Lincoln to be exact. I see so many different people, styles, shapes, groups. That maybe those complainers about not fitting in was that you were attending a very small school and you didnt have the support group for your type. I was not an excellent student nor an excellent athlete. But I did grow up play volleyball and basketball and play softball as well. I would not have my children Not do sports. Whether large or small school, you have to support your family the best you can. And Onalaska supports their kids. Way to go!
I graduated from Onalaska High School and i really think it prepared me to be successful in college. I was a wonderful experience growing up in such a small and close-knit community.
I only attended Onalaska for about a year, my junior and senior year. 2003-2004. I will agree upon how the school is very very sports. The 'cool' crowd in onalaska, is not cool. Most of the students have very high grades and the teaching methods are done well. But if you are going there and do not play sports, i don't recommend you attend. If you are new, they do not treat you well. The students that is. Most of the teachers are fair, except for a few who I want to so badly name, but I won't. And I also know plenty of people who did go into home schooling because the teachers were not fair to them even though their work was outstanding.
I attended Onalaska School from 2nd grade until my Sophmore year, when I moved to a neighboring school due to not fitting in because I didn't play sports. Many teachers at this district judge young students on their ability to play sports rather than their academic achievments. This kind of behavior does not start until about late middle school and soon after will push young teens in a negative direction. Overall I think there are still a handfull of great teachers left at Onalaska, yet the pressure to fit into the 'cool crowd' is overwhelming to alot of folks. -Salli R. Hall
