My son went to Lakeside high school and he was completely prepared for college. He is graduating from USC in 6 weeks. We made a lot of sacrifices for him to attend Lakeside and we are so grateful that Lakeside made his college experience a wonderful experience. There is nothing I would change about Lakeside. It is perfect in every way.

I have talked to many people about their high school experience and absolutely none come close to the overall excellence of Lakeside. (disclaimer: I am an alum) In a comparison with Harvard-Westlake in LA for example, whose academics are equally as rigorous and teachers just as qualified, Lakeside surpasses the school by providing a superior cultural environment. Lakeside students graduate level headed, posses an inner confidence and strength that is unparalleled. As an alum of Lakeside, I did the summer boarding schools in CT, and had close friends at Harvard Westlake. Lakeside is untouchable and I truly hope it continues that way. There is no excuse if your child does not excel after this school.

At a meeting for prospective parents, the Director of Admission was asked, "What characteristics do Lakeside graduates have in common?" The answer: "the ability to work very hard, and the ability to write very well". Neither of those qualities comes without dedicated effort over a long period of time. For students who are SELF-motivated to strive for excellence, the Lakeside community will provide support for unlimited development across all disciplines: academic, athletic, artistic, and civc. It would be a mistake to think that Lakeside will give your student talent, intelligence or drive - or a ticket to a prestigious college. What Lakeside will do is allow your student to fully develop their talents and abilities - along with a lifetime membership in a community that supports life long learning and cultural competence.

Creme de la creme of private high schools in the nation. Amazing academics, college counseling, athletics, global service learning, the list goes on and on. Amazing atmosphere and overall excellence define Lakeside. Just look at the number of National Merit Finalists and the top tier colleges these kids end up in. No other high schools even comes close.

I dont understand why people rave about the Lakeside School. I am a graduate and dont think i got the best education possible. I would not recommend this school to any students that want to go far in their life.

Lakeside School is undoubtedly the best high school in the Seattle Area - for getting its students into college. If you are a parent and are sending your child to this school, do not pressure your child, as they will get all the pressure they need from faculty and peers. If you are a student, make sure YOU are the one making the decision to attend this institution, because academics will become your sole focus, just as it will be that of your friends. Parents of younger students: I would not recommend sending your child to Lakeside Middle School. While it offers a great education, it does not offer your child the opportunity to opt out of a school that makes academics center stage and leaves room for little else.

My son has attended Lakeside Middle school for three years. It is the most amazing school! All the teachers really get to know the students and will work with them to build the skills they need for success. Teachers strike a good balance between rigor and nuture.

Lakeside is an amazing school, and a perfect fit for me. This past school year was my first year at Lakeside (I transferred from a smaller private school) and I had a great first year. The academics are rigorous but not impossibly difficult, the teachers are always there when you need help, and the students are unique and so nice.

Lakeside is by far the best choice a parent can make for a child.

Lakeside has been great for my about-to-graduate senior. BUT - she is academically driven, self-motivated, undaunted by competition, and mostly immune to the intensity. I have seen other kids with different personality traits suffocate at Lakeside. If you know your child and know she will thrive in an academically rigorous, competitive, and sometimes stressful environment, then go for it! But if you want to send you kid to Lakeside for the sake of prestige, THINK AGAIN. It is not the environment for all kids. Senior year and the competition to get in to the best colleges is especially stressful and intense. No Senior Spring at Lakeside! The perfect school for the right kid, and it has been perfect for mine. Wouldn't even consider it for #2, though!

Lakeside is a great opportunity for the right kid, but sometimes I wonder if having my kid in a super-brain-oriented culture has pushed her ahead of her timing, and exacerbated her tendency to over-function. She is really happy there, but looking forward to not attending an Ivy League school, and feeling really on top of her game and smart!

Among the best private high schools in the United States; many grads find college less demanding. No grade inflation, in fact, just the opposite. Huge endowment, Bill Gates major contributor. Expansive athletic, extracurricular options, global service learning. No cheerleaders.

Lakeside is a really great school. I go there. When you get to the high school the work is challenging. Very challenging but its worth it in the long run. The middle school is really fun and the teachers are great. They help you succeed. And the music program is fun. The extra curricular activities are the coolest things ever i happen to play lakeside baskeball soccer volleyball and lacrosse.

I've attended Lakeside Middle School for four years now, and it has benefited me greatly in terms of not only academics, but also social life and athletics. Before Lakeside, I was involved in the gifted program at both of my former public schools. When I transferred, I noticed an immense change on how academically rigorous particular private schools can be. I m looking forward to my years at the high school. I definitely recommend this school for all with a capable and motivated mind.

My son just graduated, extremely well prepared for college, thanks to Lakeside. The school actively reaches out to and identifies amazingly gifted students of all races, religious, ethnic and economic backgrounds. The diversity of talent among students is so impressive, the enthusiasm and rigor of the faculty invigorates the students. Parents are very much a part of the community. The school leadership actively supports students in developing a sense of stewardship towards the world as a whole, and in becoming fluent with emerging issues of global importance. There is an international service orientation, programs bring in outside speakers of national (and International) importance, students go abroad in well thought out programs. Very strong athletics, arts, theater, music and extracurriculars (chess, math team, science olympiad). Students become involved in outreach service to local community. Academic level far exceeds typical high school. Roughly 1/3 of any graduating class are National Merit Scholars

This is truly one of the best schools in the Country. My son attends and he loves it. While it is still school, he says that he could not imagine going anywhere else.

Even better than we thought it would be. I've heard kids who previously hated math tell me they love 'converting hedadecimal numbers into binaries.' Parents are very involved and even though there is a heavy homework load, the students are particularly engaged and appear to love it here. Worth every penny of the exhorbitant tuition.-parent of new 6th grader.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
