Kids are nice but they disrespect teachers. There are fights but outside of school. Kids skip school and draw on lockers. The teachers though are very nice. Well as long as you are on their good side, but they mean well. The food given out at lunch is okay. They even have a prize cart on Fridays for students who do well. About 3/4 of the kids there are good friends and will accept you. The last 1/4 are mean and rude. Or as they are naturally called, the popular people. Some though are nice. So really it depends on the personality. They have added more cameras in the cafeteria. People draw on the building and break equipment like the sprinkler system. On the end, the school is between average and semi bad.

Students talk a lot in class and disrespect teachers. Well the bad kids do anyway.

My granddaughter is doing very well at this school. I can only think it's because of the quality of the school' staff

Well, it's a good thing there isn't a rating for the students because they would get a big 0. My daughter is being harrassed by boys & the girls are rude to her. She asked a teacher who pretended to care why don't they do a program that Oprah has repeated on the show that solves this situation & she kind of said that would be nice. That's it.

My son went here for nearly three years and had a very positive experience most of the time; he enjoyed it much more when it was a middle school (6, 7 & 8). He says the rewarding of good citizenship went away when they changed to a junior high - now there is a focus on negative behavior. The school stopped using a reward system for good behavior. While the 8th grade 'teaming' concept was excellent and the teachers seem to really be on the same page and work well together with high standards I cannot say the same for the 9th grade experience my son has had. Currently my daughter is in 9th grade and doesn't enjoy it. There's a lack of extracurricular programs compared to the Kitstap schools. The highlite for my son was a trip offered by the 8th grade history teachers to Washington DC: T'WAS THE BEST!

This school is okay, but I wish the teachers focused more on the basics and not so much on the State (WASL) testing. Some students are not getting enough of the basics (reading, writing, math, history, etc.). Although the extras are great! The teachers and staff have been very helpful and allow all the parent interaction as possible. My daughter has really picked up her grades and attitude since entering the 8th grade. The extracurricular activities (band, choir, etc.) are what has helped her focus on her future.

Great school for the developing mind, many different types of extracurricular activities along with all learning abilitties that are all pushed to their levels.

Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
