SHS has lost its focus over the past few years. There are many teachers who don't care about the students. Good behavior is not rewarded and bad behavior is everywhere.
Our school rocks :) Great academics, great sports, and great arts come together to create a very very VERY great school.
This school is probably one of the best academically. It has great teachers who actually care and students that get involved. You really learn while you are there.
Probably one of the best parts of SHS is the teachers. Most of them are willing and able to work with kids one on one and have exelant reasources for partents. the arts progarm is also amazing. Mr's Sims, Ronning, and Morash take the 'arts' kids under their wing and chanel their tallent into somthing amazing. In a farming town, all the credit goes to the arts teachers when it comes to making Stanwood a place where kids can express the arts and do somthing they love with experts in their feild.
As a former student, I will say that SHS has some good academic programs. The music program is good, the art is great for the area, and the sports are pretty good. Parent stay involved in this area a lot due to the 'small town' feel of Stanwood and Camano Island.
I am a former student of Stanwood. I had few problems with the School mainly with one person. How ever since graduating this member has retired. The school is large enough to help students but still small enough in order ot provide a very strong learning experience. The athletic prograhms are strong but still change from year to year depending on the talent pool of the team.
My son has learned a ton. There are Grade A teachers at that school, that really seem like they care
This is a high quality school, with great teachers, after school activities and programs, and great educational programs.
Our student excelled while at Stanwood. Stanwood's 'Running Start' college program is very well supported. Extracurricular activities are available but not as well advertised as they could have been. Our interactions with staff on a couple occasions have been focused on the student. We didn't feel as drawn into the school life as at other schools. Student character development could be stronger. Overall, the school has a very good, well deserved reputation in the area and has some other traits that could be improved upon to strengthen that reputation.
I recently transferred from Tyee High School to Stanwood High School. Right away I could tell a difference. Stanwood High is a very nice school and the teachers are great...they actually teach.
