My children transferred from Grant Elementary and have undergone a major culture shock due to the switch. Daily I hear, 'There's NO art, or dance, or anything!' With the population being diverse, the academic energy seems to have to go in specific directions - 'just get them to pass the WASL'. Overall, the staff are friendly and treat the children with respect, but I think that the school could use a little help in the enrichment department. Children have many learning styles, therefore, teaching styles must vary as well.
Good school my kids have grown and learned from thier experiences there. It is overall one of Tacomas treasure schools.
2nd grader 2002, than 3rd grader 2003 and a kindergartener 2003. I have to compliment the teachers that my children have. They seem to sincerely care about the students learning and emotional needs. I have attended extra-curricular activities and feel they are not organized. The Gym/lunchroom is very small and used for plays and performances which will not fit all family and friends in that area. Overall, I have had no complaints from my children about this school, teachers, ect.
