Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My son's attitude has changed from "do I have to go to school" to "Dad, please hurry up, I don't want to be late" since he joined Cascadia. The Montessori system is the perfect match for his learning style. Ms. Kim Kuhle his teacher knows his strengths and weaknesses and uses them to get his best performance. Ms. Danielle Benge, the school director, is very accessible and commited leader. Mis

Excellent education, nurturing, kind, involved, smart-these are what come to mind when I think of what Cascadia is to us and so many other families. The school is truly amazing. Our children have blossomed attending Cascadia and we know they will continue to do so. We are so grateful to have found this school. Our girls' self esteem and confidence couldn't be higher. That is a difficult quality to instill in girls in this day and age. Thank you to Cascadia for providing such a loving environment.

I have two sons at Cascadia and it has been a wonderful learning environment as well as a very supportive social environment for both of them. The teachers are caring and the parent community is helpful and fun to be a part of. I highly recommend Cascadia!

My children are students at Cascadia School. I am so thankful for this school for many reasons. First of all my kids love to go to school and are internally motivated to learn...they enjoy it :-) Cascadia fosters the development of the "whole child" ... it's not just about academics, it's also about collaboration, the use of non-violent communication skills, connecting the child with his/her community outside of the school, encouraging the child to follow his/her curiousity and passion while providing the framework of support and direction, building confidence and a sense of personal responsibility, teachers guiding and encouraging children to investigate and discover otherwise known as "active learning." My children have been at Cascadia for nearly 4 years and I have seen the positive results in my own family of a Montessori based learning environment. I highly encourage any parents wanting to support their child fully to find out more by visiting Cascadia and observing in a classroom. Discover for yourself how amazing the child-driven learning style of education can be!

This is my son's second year at Cascadia and we love it. He was in public school for his first two years and the experience was not good. He seemed to be in the principal's office more then the classroom and did not like school. He wasn't challenged and was bored. Since we switched to Cascadia and the Montessori approach to learning, he has been happy to go to school and excited about learning. It's a great environment with a very accessible staff willing to give and receive input. It's a good individual approach to each child, since the class sizes are small. Very high level of parent involvement and a great school family.

Cascadia has been a great experience for my son. He has Asperger's as well as ADHD, and the supportive environment at Cascadia has been wonderful. The hands-on and interactive Montessori teaching style is much more effective for him than the typical desk-bound classroom, and he looks forward to going to school each day. Cascadia is a close-knit community of great staff, parents and alumni who are all dedicated to the success of the kids.

This is my son's third year at Cascadia School. Cascadia is more than a school to my son. It is his extended family. Cascadia thrives on a strong sense of community--creating a very safe and nurturing environment. The mixed-grade classrooms (1st-3rd, 4th-6th, and 7th-8th) allow the children to learn from each other. The older children become mentors. The younger children are motivated by observing the work the older students are doing--challenging them to keep learning. While there is independent work, the opportunity to often work together teaches the children about teamwork, cooperation, empathy, and patience. These skills are seen not only in the classroom, but in after-school settings such as childcare and on-site classes. My son has never said he doesn't want to go to school, but often says he doesn't want to leave. He loves learning! He loves his teachers! I am confident that Cascadia School is the perfect place for my son to be.

We absolutely love Cascadia! My son came from public school and was only able to move at the pace of the whole class, and often that is catered to the lowest performing students in the class. My son was starting to get bored; and this was tragic for us because he LOVES to learn. He has always enjoyed school and to see the light inside of him start to dim was so hard to watch as a parent. Since his switch to Cascadia we have seen the light inside of him switch back on. He is back to loving learning. I see no constraints or bounds to his potential and learning. Every day he comes home and talks about his lessons or research projects, or whatever excites him. I can now breathe easy knowing he is pushing himself and learning how to own his education, which means setting goals and figuring out ways he has to achieve those goals, with the help of his peers and/or teacher. We want him to know that he is responsible to learn and grow and that learning is a lifelong pursuit that is enjoyable and we feel like Cascadia is fostering that in him.

My daughter loves Cascadia and the learning environment is superb. She has flourished with reading, spelling, and writing in particular and the Cascadia teaching staff has even got her interested in math. The individualized curriculum and the caring teachers are everything I could have hoped for in a school, and the admin staff on the ball. I would highly recommend Cascadia, and I only wish I would have found it earlier!

Cascadia is a wonderful school for my daughter. She thrives in the Montessori environment at Cascadia. She is excited for school everyday. She is so confident in herself and I believe that is because the Cascadia school environment encourages children to respect each other as well as becoming independent thinkers. The teachers and administration are dedicated to a pnurturing, caring, yet challenging learning environment.

I love that my daughter can't wait to go back to school everyday. I have seen her confidence grow immensely. Her growth has included accomplishing tasks through problem solving on her own and in a teamwork setting. Having three grades per classroom has allowed for her to learn from her peers and teach others.

Our daughter started her Montessori education at the age of three. We became firm believers in the philosophy behind Montessori and knew that we wanted our daughter to continue at least through the 3rd grade. But when the time came there just was no decision to be made. We were staying with Cascadia because of the solid education our daughter was receiving. But a large part of the decision came with our feelings of the school as well as the education. Our family has a strong connection with the school, the other parents and the staff of Cascadia. And as far as the classroom structure, our daughter loves delving into a new subject and gets excited about completing a report and presenting it to the class. It means something to her because she chose the topic. Since she is given choices, she understands how to structure her time, have initiative and be self-reliant. It s a wonderful setting with great teachers and a sense of belonging.

We were recently transferred to the Vancouver area. Our daughter had been attending a Montessori school at our previous location and we are fully on-board with the Montessori way. We were so happy to find Cascadia and from the moment we contacted them and observed the school we knew we had found our place. The staff is very caring and made us feel welcome. From the moment our daughter walked into the classroom in January she felt at ease and all the other children in class were very welcoming to her. The teacher took a lot of time to get to know our daughter and structure lessons around her needs. The staff has been very easy to talk to and the other families have also been very welcoming of a new family. I look forward to our future at Cascadia and know that our daughter is getting a quality education in a safe environment that nurtures her and is building her confidence along the way.

This is great school for students who are self motivated and interested in learning. The school had some difficulties a few years ago but now has strong teachers and leadership in place and it is growing again. Dmitria the grade 1 - 3 teacher (lower El) is wonderful. She has both public school and Montessori experience and is very good at making lessons interesting and holding students to high expectations both for learning and behavior. She also values teaching the core Montessori concepts of "grace and courtesy" in her classroom. The middle school is a good place for students who want to be part of a small community with lots of personal attention. The academics are as rigorous as the students are individually capable of. A middle school downside is a lack of electives due to the small size of the program. There is a heavy focus on ecology and geology, with many field trips; this is great if it is an area your child is interested in - not so great otherwise. Barbara the English and Social Studies middle school teacher does a fantastic job of teaching literature and writing and really helps students to become better writers and public speakers.

Our daughter has been at Cascadia Montessori since first grade and is proud to be a member of the 8th grade graduating class of 2014. Cascadia is a small schools with a caring and supportive staff and student body. It provides a learning environment that values and accepts students as they are, encourages them to excel in their academic goals, and offers opportunities for student collaboration and community service. Smaller class size allows students one-on-one time with the teachers and the Montessori method provides tailored instruction.

My husband and I chose Cascadia because we wanted our son to be in an environment where he could thrive. My son is a creative, fun loving confident individual and we wanted that to be nurtured. We like how engaged the students are and how they get to choose topics of interest to them to research and learn. My son's favorite subject is science and he likes doing experiments. The teachers and staff are great about communicating with us. They have provided resources and insightful perspective. My son is struggling with a possible learning disability and they have worked with us to provide the information and steps to help us to determine what we can do to help him be successful. Overall, when we leave our son at Cascadia we feel we are leaving him in a positive safe and secure environment.

The social, spiritual and intellectual benefits of a Montessori education are well documented and information is widely available online so I won't spend time lauding Montessori here. I will just say that Cascadia School is true Montessori with educators that serve the whole child, stimulate their natural curiosity, celebrate their unique attributes and challenge my sons to be their best selves. If I had a middle school experience like my son is getting at Cascadia, I would actually want to repeat middle school! He loves the field study trips in particular, unheard of in public middle schools! Cascadia's elementary programs are exemplary as well. My only regret is that my children haven't attended Cascadia longer, worth every penny!

"You know what is great about my new school mommy? Well, EVERY school has at least one bully... except Cascadia! Everyone is really nice and works together." ~My 8 year old daughter My daughter struggled in a traditional school setting because she was bored. She struggled with arguing at home because she craved independence. Cascadia has helped with both. The Montessori method allows for her to have flexibility in learning subjects, level, and time on task. This not only provides for just the right challenge, it also gives an outlet for her to be independent and feel responsible. Probably my favorite thing is pick up time. When I ask her what she learned she can actually answer, and always does so with a smile on her face and excitement in her voice. Cascadia taught my daughter to love learning again.

Our family was looking for a alternative to the standard public school experience. Public school for us wasn't to our liking for tons of reasons and then we found Cascadia! In a nutshell our family is blown away by the overall atmosphere. Our son is learning and smiling everyday now, it's amazing what a difference it has made in our lives. The individual attention is wonderful, the child centered approach and teaching them one on one. The classrooms are beautiful and they really take the time to get to know each child and what they need. I wouldn't go anywhere else ever. It's amazing and I would recommend it to anyone. There is nothing that compares and we are so grateful.

Cascadia Montessori is a school where children are developed emotionally and academically. They are provided a warm and safe community, personal academic attention and the best teachers a parent could wish for. My 6 year old is constantly bringing home his class work that would be typical for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. He is so excited about learning and inspired to seek more. We came from another private school where my child was constantly bored, unchallenged in school and his emotionally needs were completely ignored. The upper elementary and middle school children are so smart, creative, inclusive and kind to all of the children. Every child here is respected and honored. I am so encouraged to know that my child will be able a part of this environment in years to come. A true gift!

My children thrived at Cascadia. They were allowed to follow their interests and develop both socially and academically. They learned responsibilty, respect and leadership which allows them to become great citizens of the world! The Montessori approach allowed my children to become who they were becoming opposed to conforming to a group mentality during the middle school years. Now, they are awesome high schoolers!

My kid loves going to school and has blossomed into a motivated and independent reader. Montessori is about letting the child's natural loving of learning leaad the way with specific guidelines and restrictions. Earlier, my son was behind in reading, but a science and math whiz. It has been great that he could take his time (i.e., be behind) in some areas and still excel in the others based on his own development, with the teacher knowing that he will catch up. Teacher Tami is an amazing resource and very available. This school is the best kept secret in Southwest Washington!

We finally found the place where our children belong! A place where inquiry, activity, and team work are valued. The teachers are excellent and enthusiastic. The administration is responsive and reliable. The families are a community. Our children are able to learn in an environment that is academically strong and developmentally appropriate. Thank you Cascadia!

Cascadia provides stellar academics in a nurturing community setting. The students are inspired and supported in active learning that crosses the spectrum. Structured lessons are enhanced by the child's natural enthusiasm to pursue their interests using independent research. Communication with faculty and administration is ongoing and the staff is exceedingly approachable. If having every teacher double certified wasn't enough peace of mind, the test scores support the results attained by engaging the learners successfully. After school activities and summer camps are offered for further enrichment in music, science art, etc. The field trips are unparalleled in advancing the cultural and intellectual development of students in all age groups. I recommend it without reservation. We are already looking forward to next year!
