Riverside Christian School

I loved attending this school. Even after graduating 6 years ago, I wish I still lived in the area so that I could somehow give back to the school. I attended 5th and 6th, thought I wanted to go to a public school, so attended a local public middle school for 1 week in 7th grade, and directly went back to RCS until graduation. Great atmosphere, good teachers, curriculum helps prepare for college. Small classes were an advantage because students can not just dissapear in a back-row somewhere. Overall I give an A.

We have been here since Kindergarten, my daughter is now in 6th grade. It's not perfect but the staff at RCS love and care for the children. I feel like they do their best in taking care of them and nurturing them not only educationally but emotionally and socially. I love this school.

My daughter attended RCS through her entire primary education; she started in Kindergarten and graduated from the 12th grade. We re grateful for the small classes, and the teachers were very involved in her progress. The biblical teaching expanded on, and reinforced what she was learning at home, and in church, and included weekly chapel and missions opportunities. We are grateful for her experience there, and although the workload was hard, the staff were extremely supportive, and she excelled. Economically it was not always easy, but I m glad we made the sacrifice to ensure she received an exceptional academic, and biblical based education, that has helped prepare her for college, and life. All schools have their problems, RCS is no different, and it may not be for everyone; there are high expectations placed on the students, and RCS families, both are expected to be actively involved, and support the school through service, and financial support above the tuition, but it is a sound institution with a caring staff, and I highly recommend it.

I had the privilege of attending RCS for two years of junior high school. Coming from the public school district, it was refreshing to be in an environment where students were encouraged, daily, to seek the Lord and His ways. The educational standards were high and my teachers were supportive. The students in my class were a mixture of socioeconomic status and background, but I experienced very few cliques even though I would have been classified on the lower end of the scale. I was very disappointed when my family's finances became too tight to continue attending RCS. Years later, after earning my masters degree in teaching, I had the honor of returning to RCS to teach in the elementary school. Once again, I am thankful for the Godly environment and encouraging atmosphere. The staff have a genuine heart for the Lord and training students up according His Word.

RCS is, at least, excellent! My 5 kids attend pre-K through 9th grade. The teachers are encouraging, desiring communication with us, and proclaiming Christians. The extracurricular activities include junior high overnight retreats, an 8th grade east coast trip (better than most, I've asked), and other activities, not just athletics. It is developing athletic fields and a secondary school building plan as of 2008. The administration is devoted and very capable. As long as I can pay the tuition I expect my kids to get their education only here.

Our child just graduated from RCS. We liked the small classes, bible based principles and challenging academics. We know a 'perfect' school is nonexistent but RCS ranks high for our family. It's nice to have a parent population and Admin. who hold the same expectations and values. Parenting is much easier this way!

This was a very difficult school to attend. Heavy workload, average teachers who were very apathetic towards me. Typical sports programs, baseball, soccer, basketball, no football however. Athletes were treated very well by teachers, often times would miss class for games and would be given very long times to do work. The school board consists of parents, many of whom are well off.

I graduated from this school recently and I thought that I got a great, Bible-based, and academically challenging education. The teachers are so supportive and knowledgeable in their subject areas. They have a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. There is a huge level of parental involvement. The leadership and staff are very personable and care about each individual student.

A very good school with high levels of acheivement and has very highly motivated students as well as teachers. Because of it being a small private school, students will often join public school sports teams if Riverside doesn't have a team.

I was a former student who ended up leaving the school after two years of their junior high. The education, though advanced, failed to give good teahers. Though a few were very skilled, others were failing to do their jobs correctly. Misplaced paperwork, inadequately preparing students for tests, and unrealistic workloads. I was taught well enough in all subjects . The people were one major problem. All are very socially dependent. The ones with money have power over the other students. Many groups formed and they choose a few students to ridicule relentlessy. No one will stop and displine these students and pretend it doesn't happen. This was a personal reason for leaving. The school has few extracurriculars outside of sports. Parents tend to control the school too much. Quality: Average.
