I am a wildlife biologist, naturalist, and professional educational and motivational speaker. My 22 years of experience in educating rural and urban youth spans10 states and Washington, DC, from Boston to Milwaukee. I've been to many schools, including magnet schools, and have interacted with literally tens of thousands of youth. I just had the wonderful experience of providing presentations to Hacker Valley Elementary this past Tuesday and must say Washington DC magnet schools have nothing over the students of Hacker Valley. I would rate this school in the top 1% of all the schools I've visited in 22 years. The kids had exceptional manners, were helpful, thoughtful, respectful and carried themselves with such bearing it was an absolute delight to meet and work with them. I salute Hacker Valley teachers and community for raising such fine young people. Jo Santiago Director, Flying Higher,LLC
I went to Hacker Valley k-8th grade and hopfully my daughter will attend as well, i think the relationships between the teachers and students are wonderful and everyone strives to do their part in encouraging the students to do their best
I as a graduate of Hacker Valley Elementary in 2005, would love to say that Hacker Valley is a peaceful, nice, good academicly, and loveing school to go to. It is small but that just makes better relationships with the kids. I'm proud to have went to Hacker Valley. I love the music program, which has joined together with Daina Elementary School, since they have the same teacher, to form a well respected band. Their 1st time ever performing in a parade was in May of 2004. They got well respected, like they deserved. And some say they did better than the highschool did that year. Many parents get involved with with Hacker Valley and pitch in to help with sports and leraning skills. My overall view of the school left a great impression on me. I would go there again in a heart beat. The teacher/child relationships are great.
Hacker Valley School focuses on the entire child's development from the beginning of the child's school career to when he/she exits in eighth grade. Nurturing students' abilities within a multiage environment is the foundation for academic growth. Parents and the community support the school's mission and students' efforts. This is a great place for any child to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and mentally.
