My daughter started this school in her 4th grade year, she was scared at first because of starting a new school, but her teacher made her feal right at home. All of the staff and students are very nice and the teachers care about the students education. My daughter will be in the 5th grade this year and is already not wanting to go to middle school and leave Guyandotte Elementry.. Over all this is a great school.
My grandson has attended Guyandotte school since it was built in 1999. The old school was torn down as many of the former students, young and old alike, watched with a collective feeling of 'gone, but not forgotten'. Aside from the nostalgia, the new school seems to have the same small town family atmosphere that made the old school so special. I feel that each child is treated with the dignity and respect that they deserve. They know each child by name, and the secretary and principal even know my grandson's food likes and dislikes. My grandson loves this school and so do I.
