I have to agree that there is extremely poor communication between school and parents. The only way to talk to someone at the school is to go into the building to talk to someone. That is a huge problem when you have a simple question and you live an hour away and it could be answered if the phone would be answered or voice mails returned. My son complains of leaking windows and many other structual problems, including only one of the boys restrooms has stall doors that are not completely broken off. The school doesn't have the funds to replace student desks and textbooks but somehow has enough to build a "sports complex". I am all for sports, but I believe academics come first and those needs should be addressed first. Security is also lacking. There are physical fights between students on an almost daily basis. The only positive thing I have seen: a handful of good teachers who are willing to communicate with parents/students.

Preston High School has scored high in all tests and has been active in local activities.

Preston High is an OK school, nice teachers that go out of thier way to help you and many extra-curricular activities to be involed in. Most of the student body are very friendly and polite. Some drawbacks to Preston High are the many structural problems such as leaky ceilings, mold in class rooms, un-airconditioned rooms in the summer, and one of the biggest problems may be the gap between rich and poor students which creates problems.

My son graduates in 2008. He had a severe case of Senioritis, as the school calls it. He had excessive absences. After a meeting with guidance, teachers and my son's assistant principal a plan was made for my son to make up his school work and time missed. If my son was absent from any class I was to get a call. Well, my son began to skip school again. He had skipped 13 more days, without a single call from anyone at the school. Ultimately, this was my son's fault. He shouldn't have been skipping. I just think there should have been more follow through with our agreement. I don't know if they need more administration or what exactly the problem is, but there is a discipline problem.

I'm currently a student at PHS (I graduate in 2007) and might I say that even though it is a great school, a few imrovements are needed, such as the leaky roofs (which I will no longer talk about.) administration somewhat needs to 'review' the county policies and we need an experianced football coach. Otherwise, the school is pretty good off. I am a band geek, so obviously I believe that our bands rock!!! The theater and music programs are absolutely a dream, and in some cases, never a dull moment.

I am a graduate of PHS. The school gave me a wonderful education and I felt academically prepared when I entered college. However there are social problems... 1.A problem with PHS is the treatment of average/poor students. Unless they belong to a specific dicipline/organization, students won't belong. There're many students that settle for C's because of a lack caring--and since it's a rural community, poverty is prevalent& influential on this. 2.There's a LOW number of multicultural families. This shouldn't be an issue if PHS included diversity as apart of their values--because it's important to know about other races, cultures, and societies for the real world--but they don't. 3.Being a rural community leads to favoritism & silent, spiteful grudges against certain families& their children. In a way it is better to be unknown so those in charge won't punish you for having a certain name. 4.Snow days inhibit learning--Preston Co. has many.

I am also a student at Prestin High. The amount of extracurricular activities and vocational classes PHS offers is absoulutly amazing. They really put your future into perspective. The sports are a thing to be proud of. Our boys basketball team is going to the State Championships for the first time since 1997. The drama department is doing very good as well. I do believe that Preston High is one of the very best high schools around.

Hi, I am a student at Preston High. Preston is a great school. It is fun and tough. The school has a lot of great teachers including Dr. Cassonova (spanish) from Venisuela and so many other that are absolutly dedicated to teaching. These teachers spend time with each and every one of us. My Pre-honors english teacher Ms. Jenkins was really worried about my being behind today. I only missed one day of school and she helped me catch up quickly. There are many honors and AP classes offered. Even classes in areas like nursing, auto body, typing... The block scedualing makes the days seem easier too. Preston has a lot of sports and clubs. We have a lot of school spirit and go to see a lot of games. I prefer to see the plays.
