Paden City High School is an excellent choice for your child's education. The rigorous curriculum and individualized attention allows for exemplary preparation for colleges and universities as well as 21st Century Skills for ALL students. PCHS has a caring and excellent staff that drives students and prepares them to be successful. As an educator myself, I am glad I chose to send my child to PCHS.
To the parent whose childs grades slipped: The beauty of this school is that there is so much opportunity for individualized attention. Did your child stay after school for help? Did they come in early? What about ISE days? This school is quite rigorous, unlike other schools where you came from (likely). It is true the teachers are veterans, but I don't know any of them are "doing time until they can claim retirement". (Everyone looks to retire someday. :) )They are all experienced educators that have shown time and again their ability to educate by the schools Westest scores. Don't look for excuses. Meet with the teachers and find ot why your child is not performing as expected, then work towards a solution with them. This school is a rigours small school, very good Westest scores, and prepares students for college, trade school, etc. Teachers are dedicated. Almost all students walk to school so additional help andresources is easily obtained!
Many have been here a long time. Many are doing time until they can claim their retirement. I expected some slippage of my childs grades when we moved to Paden City. I was shocked to see that within six months, they took a student who made "A's" and "B's" and had them failing in two of their best subjects. When I suggested that another teacher might be more appropriate for my child, I found out that wasn't possible. Because of the small school size, only one teacher taught each subject. The only alternative was to transfer my child in the middle of a school year. At the suggestion that maybe a teacher might not be appropriate for my child, I was told that it "couldn't possible be the teacher's fault" "your child must be slacking off." This while the child has always done well, up to this point. And was well regarded by everyone at their previous school, including the faculty and the principal. The worst part is watching a child who enjoyed school, totally turned off to it now and thinking seriously of quitting.
Paden City High School is an excellent school. It provides an excellent jump start for college. As a graduate and a parent of students I believe this school is one of the best in the country. I have dealt with people from all over the United States and I know I have received a quality education that prepared me for the 21st century. I also know that my children are getting an excellent education at Paden City Schools. JB
Small classes; individual teacher attention; extra help when needed; has met AYP for all years in program's existence; students have opportunity to participate in any and all sports and extracurricular activities (no choices have to be made because of coordination among coaches); great community support and involvement
Paden City High School is an outstanding school. I am a recent graduate (2008) and I am well prepared for college level work and to be competitive in the job world. Paden City High has an excellent staff and is an amazing school.
Congratulations to the staff, students, and administration on another great WESTest score! Paden City High School continues to show its excellence once again. I encourage all parents to choose Paden City High School.
PCHS is an excellent school in academic, caring and supportive teachers, administration and staff. The school is the best public 'private' school. Class size may be somewhat small, but this allows for more individualized attention and individual instruction. This allows the teachers to spend time with each student, encouraging all students to exceed in academics. Paden City schools (PCES and PCHS)were the only schools (in a single town) in the local area that met all requirements in the NCLB! Outstanding academics. All students are allowed to participate in all sports as well as band, choir, etc. As a former teacher at a large school in Pennsylvania and I would recommend and encourage parents to visit Paden City High School and send your children to our 'CARING' staff!!!!!! Small is definately the best
Paden City is a wonderful community High School with great teachers and staff are wonderful and nobody is cut from a sports team every one makes the team. The Paden City Band is returning to excellence with our new director. There is so much opportunity at Paden City HS
