Doty is a great school! My son was misbehaving in his first grade class, and his wonderful teacher cared enough to look deeper and find that he was High-Functioning Autistic with sensory issues. It would have been easy to dismiss him as a problem child, but they really worked to find an answer for his struggles. Since his diagnosis, he has a remarkable team of staff helping him. His improvements have been amazing! I have found all the staff, including the principal to be very patient and flexible in discovering and implementing unique methods of helping my son learn despite his challenges. I would recommend Doty Elementary to any parent!

I have had three children attend Doty Elementary and I can attest that the teachers are amazing. On the whole they show lots of dedication to their students and to the families. One telling fact is that many teachers have been at Doty for at least 10 years. Poor schools often have a lot of turnover as teachers seek out a "better situation." For each year my children have always had a caring and dedicated teacher. None of them ever had a "bad year" at Doty. As a parent, I have been on a first name basis with all my children's teachers and they have all given me time whenever I wanted to hear how things were going with my children. As a volunteer in the school, I have found the students to be respectful and well behaved.

This comment should not reflect on the teachers because the teachers at this school are amazing especially with trying to deal with theses issues as well! This school is over crowded! There is a huge language issue which holds us back from any kind of activities from fund raising to any kind of after school activities. There is a lack of supervision on the playground as well as in the hallways. The stealing is way out of control. I can never seem to voice my opinion because I am unable to make it to PTA meetings due to time constraints. There seems to be a problem I can't seem to solve every week! The principal just seems to want to whine and come up with a ton of excuses of why he can't seem to make anything happen!
