I am of the Class of 2014 and so far, MUHS has been the best fit. Everyone is so welcoming - there is a certain brotherhood here that is just so great I can't explain it. The religious life is amazing but even if you're not Catholic or Christian, you are not discriminated against at all. The academics and extra-curriculars are exemplary. If you're looking for good academics, a strong sports school, and a great service-oriented place, MUHS is the place for you. I know that I will be prepared for the challenges of college in the next 2 years.

As a student, Marquette High has been the best experience of my life. The school not only develops one's intellectual skills, but develops the student as a person who will be serving the community for his life after high school. Through the retreats students are able to bond with their fellow classmates. I was very skeptical to attend an all boys high school, but coming from a co-ed primary school, I feel that I am able to concentrate on my school work and i am able to participate in class without being ostracized for being the "smart one." I fully recommend MUHS for any prospective students and parents. - Member of the Class of 2014

As an Alum of MUHS, I can say without question that it was the best thing that has ever happened to me. I know many students and graduates from other schools that had experiences with peer conflicts that never occured at MUHS. I was frequently bullied in grade school and middle school, and MUHS instantly felt like home to me. The brotherhood that is shared between Alum is unlike anything that anyone else can understand, and the faculty and staff do an excellent job of educating the person athletically, artistically, spiritually, and academically. Without MUHS, I am quite sure that my teenage years would have been different for the worse, and I would not be on the path to success that I am on now.

Terrible. No one should be subjected to the kind of rampant bullying my son had to experience here. We have switched schools, as Marquette is no place for a child to go. Anyone who truly cares not only about their childs mental health, but overall safety, should not even consider Marquette. I agree with the teacher below when she says Whitefish Bay is truly the best Milwaukee/Wisconsin school. My older daughter attended here, and she has gone on to prosper at Stanford University.

Has to be one of the best high schools in the nation. All three of our sons graduated. Outstanding in every area: Academics; Ethics, Citizenship and Service; Sports, Arts and other Extracurriculars; School Spirit and Camaraderie.

Marquette is an outstanding school in all respects. The boys not only excel academically, they also grow into respectful young men. The quality of the faculty and administrative staff is excellent, and parent involvement is phenominal. Retreats and community service also play a big part in personal growth.

This is truly an amazing school. Our son grew from a good youth to a great young man. The boys are challenged to achieve and succeed in academics, service, character, and all extra curriculuar activities. Great staff who are phenomenal role models. Our son entered college recently as a sophmore on an almost full scholarship at a private institution.

Great school! Both our sons were challenged by the teachers and responded. The school doesn't let students slide - in their work or their values. Extracurriculars are not just about sports. How is football and mock trial for a combination? It's been a wonderful experieince for everyone.

Best academics I have ever seen in all of of my travels and has a stellar sports program to accompany, along with the too many extra-curriculur activivities to shake a stick at.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Wisconsin used the Wisconsin Student Assessment System (WSAS), which includes the WKCE and WAA, to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in math and reading, and in grades 4, 8 and 10 in language arts, science and social studies. The WSAS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Wisconsin. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level. In private schools, only voucher program participants are tested.

average

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). Unfortunately, this school doesn't have sufficient data to generate an academic rating.

Climate ratings

This rating encompasses five elements of school climate: safety and cleanliness, respect and relationships, expectations for students, teacher collaboration and support, and parent involvement. This school's climate ratings are the result of GreatSchools' analysis of teacher survey data from the Spring 2012 School Climate Survey developed by Milwaukee Public Schools. Unfortunately, this school didn't provide enough survey responses to generate a climate rating.
