Beautiful campus, and for the record it was $48 Mil. - which is cheap compared to recent referendums. But the district is in a consistent no-win budget situation until the WI State fixes it's funding formula and the school board takes on the teacher union to freeze wages/benefits, or it considers more online programming to remain competitive. If your student has chronic medical issues do not consider SMHS. The block scheduling which gives students a realistic feel of what a college work load could be like, will bury a student who can't make it to school on a regular basis. The block schedule at SMHS also penalizes students who want to be in Arts and Musical Arts programs, as they do not offer decent curriculum opposite the Arts/Music classes. Due to dysfunctional music programming at the SM middle school I forsee the SMHS music department to start shrinking starting in

I am a student here at South Milwaukee High and I must say that It's a great school, but I just think that our school has gotten a horrible reputation. Everything is turning out to be just like Palaski. Only we don't have bad things going on everyday. I like most of my teachers. They are always there for you when you need help. I down fall on our teachers is the number of students we have in a class. When we have a question, they can't always come to you and answer it for you. Otherwise, it's a decent school and I like it here.

It is a good school. I like my teachers because they help me learn and I am from Albania. I have lots of friends and do lots of things in school.

Most parents in this district have aborgated their responsibilty for ensuring their children receive a quality education. Instead of exercising their own decision making ability, they blindly follow the recommendations of administrators and special interest groups. If the quality of education matched the physical facility, this would be the number one high school in the Milwaukee metro area. South Milwaukee is a text book example of 'educrats' and mindless special interests running wild. There are valid and obvious reasons why South Milwaukee is rated 3rd from the bottom in terms of performance, with only the Cudahy and Milwaukee Public schools Districts performing worse in the metro area.

South Milwaukee High School is an okay school. Class sizes are high in some classes 30 kids are in there. A few teachers work hard to ensure your child is getting the best possible education, while others do not care. In order for a child to succeed one would have to work hard on their own and get lots of extra help before and after school. It all rides on the child to do well.
