Public money doesn't get you much better... Small note to the person who expected their kid to get good grades because of their test scores - you get good grades by applying yourself. It's a shame your child will never learn to take responsibility in life because of your attitude.

My child has excellent standardized test scores (90th percentile or higher) yet failed many classes. Teachers did not contact us about issues until it was too late to change grades and wouldn't let us know about upcoming work so we could keep our struggling student on track--very unprofessional.

I was a student at Tosa East and I can say that I loved how diverse the student body was and the opportunities provided by East enabled me to get into MIT, my dream school!

my daughter just graduated from the Wauwatosa school system and East HS and had a tremedous high school career. Great educational and social activities with hard working staff and administration. A lot of parent involvement

East is a very academically competitive and enriching school. A large percentage of the students are on the honor roll and in my graduating class (2003) about 3/4 of the class graduated with honors. If you want your child to be challenged and be given the opportunity of having an enriching experience both academically and socially, East is the place to start. Excellent sports teams, top notch theater and arts courses, and wonderful teachers.

About the tests

In 2013-2014 Wisconsin used the Wisconsin Student Assessment System (WSAS), which includes the WKCE and WAA, to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in math and reading, and in grades 4, 8 and 10 in language arts, science and social studies. The WSAS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Wisconsin. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level. In private schools, only voucher program participants are tested.
GreatSchools' ratings currently reflect 2012-13 testing data.

Beginning in the 2012-2013 school year, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the WSAS test. As a result of these changes, proficiency scores for Wisconsin schools are lower than they were in previous years.

The different student groups are identified by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. If there are fewer than 5 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group. Subgroup scores for each school are only reported for students who were enrolled as of the fall enrollment count. The All students score includes results for all students who took the test, regardless of when they first enrolled in the school.
